Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Not the best hotel, but certainly not the worst. Pros, it's quiet, and near a bunch of everything, like right next door to TGI Fridays. There is a free shuttle to take you to Universal and/or DisneyWorld, but be sure you ask the front desk about the schedule and note the times and places for everything. Everything seemed okay, the suites were suite-like. Some minor problems like not the most updated of stuff, the gates didn't need your roomkey to open, maybe some minor mildew in the shower (no wonder since they don't seem to have fans in the bathrooms). But everything was clean. For the price, it's not terribly bad.
I didn't have the breakfast or take the free shuttles, or even stay in the pool / hot tub when there, but it was quiet. the staff seemed helpful, and when I came back late and the parking lot was full, the lobby people showed me where to park and everything.
I will probably not stay here again, but it wasn't the worst, and the location is pretty good actually. Bottom line, I had clean sheets, the rooms are suites and friendly staff. We were allowed to check in early, we had a 6th floor room, and that was that. No frills but not ridiculously expensive. Close to a starbucks and some restaurants, and close to the nightlife on Universal and Sand Lake Road.

I chose this hotel based on other traveler's Trip Advisor/Expedia reviews. We reserved a queen bed/non-smoking/handicapped room and got the room we reserved. The hotel/rooms/lobby are being renovated and are comfortable, clean and relatively quiet. There was a full breakfast-eggs/sausage/potatoes, cereal, bread/bagels, beverages served each morning in an area near the lobby.
Unheated pool next to small lake/park.
Frig/microwave/coffee maker in the room.
Comfortable beds with plenty of pillows.
New AC unit.
This hotel has a morning/evening shuttle using a private bus and drops you at the bus/taxi area in front of Universal Studios, SeaWorld, DisneyWorld.
This hotel is about 1/2 mile from the main gate of Universal Studios. However, walking to/from the hotel to US is across several busy streets and a long walk. Take a taxi for about $5-6.00 each way.
You can walk to nearby fast food, iHop, Carrabas, chinese, steak restaurants as well as a Walgreens.
The International Drive trolley (fee) stops about a block from the hotel and can take you to other restaurants on Int'l Drive.
You'll need a car, or take the Int Drive trolley, to get to other sites/restaurants/activitities on Int Drive.
Front desk personal were impersonal and not too helpful.
Did have a good experience with the night clerk, Carlos, as our Mears Shuttle (reserved ahead of time) didn't show to take us to the airport. He spoke to the Mears agent and they sent a Mears taxi, which accepted our shuttle voucher.
