Gramercy Park Hotel's room was fashionably decorated, but a little small. We had a room with two double beds and I guess the use of space was clever. The airconditioning was centrally controlled so we could not change the temperature on our own. Staff were friendly and helpful if you asked them.

This is an amazing hotel. The decor by Ian Schrager is amazing, and definitely makes the overall experience of this hotel a fantastic one! My husband and I loved our room. It was a very spacious room with the most beautiful decor. Unfortunately, my digital camera battery was dead on this trip so I couldn't take any pictures of the room. I will be sure to post some on the next visit (we will stay at this hotel every time we travel to NY). The bathroom was decent sized and clean. The closet was good, though there was not enough space to hang clothing. The bedroom was very well layed out and plush. We loved the dark colored tones and the wood paneling on the walls. The flat screen tv could be pulled out and turned to face the bed, or the desk. The desk was setup so that one side had a chair, and the other side had the couch. A very innovative way to arrange the furniture, and well thought out. The only thing we didn't like about the room was the lack of electrical outlets. Usually we like to plug our cell phones in on the nightstand. There weren't any outlets around the bed, or in the entire room with the exception of 1 outlet (via the lamp), on the desk. I had to iron our clothing by plugging the iron into the bathroom plug and using the ironing board in the small hallway. Other than that the hotel was fantastic. It is conveniently located off of Gramery Park and within walking distance to the 6 train. I highly recommend this hotel.

Note: I didn't stay at the property. I just tried to. Review reflects my experience dealing with their reservations department. I just had a terrible experience with this hotel. I booked 1 night via Expedia and then decided to add another night by booking the next night in a separate reservation for the same room type. I did this to avoid having to call Expedia and merge my bookings. This booking was for Sep 2009 (i.e., 2 months ahead of time). I shot a quick email to the hotel in advance to confirm that I could keep the same room for both nights (this has never been an issue at any other hotel that I have chosen in the past). I was told that because I booked through Expedia they would require me to check in and out of the room or call Expedia to re-do the reservation. I don't understand what booking through Expedia has to do with anything. This is just bad customer service. I booked over the internet out of convenience. At close to $800 USD per night, you'd think they could offer a little more flexibility and wouldn't care how the room was booked. If they are this bad at booking, who the heck wants to stay here? Good thing the bar keeps the hotel in business.

Huge dissappointment! if you have half a brain don't bother going.... service is completely non existent across the board. staff is useless, they seemed to be too worried in trying to be cool and completely lack guest attention. evrything took forever to get. one of my worst stays ever in a hotel
