3The Hotel Gansevoort is OK. Very trendy, but the staff isn't very accommodating. I was there for 1 night on business and my bf called to request that a fruit basket be sent to my room - he was transferred to various people who worked there that did not know who would handle, then finally he was told by the concierge that the only way they could do it would be if he faxed in his request - it was a Sunday and he did not have access to a fax machine so it didn't happen. I really don't see how an e-mail wouldn't have sufficed, but whatevs - they lost the business. So much for romantic surprises! Also, the noise from the street was awful - I woke up multiple times to cars honking in the middle of the night! I was on the 8th floor, so not sure why this was an issue. I have stayed here once before on business and had the room service breakfast, which is outrageously expensive - I think it was something like $45 for eggs florentine and orange juice for 1 person - I didn't care as much because the company was paying for it, but I would never spend that normally. Bed was nice...TV is pretty small. I liked the blackout electric shades. I would stay here again because it's the closest hotel to my office and much better than The Standard!
