Great Hotel For The Money

I stayed at this hotel for the second week of july , 2008 and thought i'd write a quick review . this hotel was well worth the money we spent to stay in it . the location is perfect . take a right out the front door and walk a block to planet hollywood , mars2112 , bubba gump shrimp co . , hard rock cafe , virgin records , madame tussauds wax museum , radio city music hall , all the broadway shows , carnegi deli , B.B. Kings resteraunt , ripleys believe it or not museum , the m&m store , the hersheys store , MTV Studios , and numerous other bars , clubs , stores and resteraunts . as for the hotel itself , it is clean , quiet , with a great staff . there is a great little bar on the second floor which is very cozy for a late night drink or a couple cold ones before heading out on the town . the rooms are a bit small but very clean and have cold A/C , internet , cable , and flatscreen T.V.s and nice private bathrooms . I recommend this hotel for anyone planning to visit manhatten for sightseeing . be sure not to miss the free continental breakfast on the lower level , serving cereal , toast , bagels , fruit , milk , juice , coffee and donuts . Lastly , when we checked in it was 3 hours early and the staff kindly let us right into our room and when we checked out they put our bags in a locked room while we did some last minute sightseeing before our train left . if anyone needs any info on this hotel our things to do in new york feel free to contact me at jfrancesshelli@yahoo.com anytime

Stayed here for the canadian thanksgiving weekend. The lobby was very nice for a budget hotel but everthing else was average. I was in the back building so there was only one elevator and it was so slow. The room was just renovated but some things were wierd. The bathroom door is somewhat see-through for some reason. The beds were also very uncomfortable and one had a hole right in the middle. When I woke up the first morning, there was a key card in the slot. The breakfast was very average and the room was always busy and it was hard to find a seat. The business centre consisted of a slow computer that worked half the time. The staff were not friendly at all. The best thing about the hotel was its location. It was so close to everything. Overall, it was a very average stay and I do not know if I would stay here again.

Many things went very bad for us at the beginning of our trip including the hotel we were originally staying in but this hotel became an oasis. The staff were terrific at making space for us , earlier than we originally booked even. The space was awesome, the room was huge, clean and bright . The hotel is perfectly located, we could walk almost anywhere in Manhatten and could easily access public transit. All at an excellent price.$159 most nights (downtown Manhatten!!) more for Saturday. . The breakfast room probuably needs to be enlarged but the breakfast was terrific. lots of choice, including whole grain products and boiled eggs. The building itself is older and really gets the feel of the history of New York, marble stair cases, beautiful wood trim, old brass mail box with access from each floor. They sure made our stay in Manhatten even more enjoyable. We were looking at going to Detroit this fall and the first thing I did when I got home was check to see if Applecore has places there. They don't:(. I look forward to their chain growing. One of our party was in a wheelchair and this was no problem here, loads of room, elevators were slow but in keeping with the old flavor of the place so it was worth the wait. Kathy ps Applecore is the chain this Hotel is part of, they have 5 locations in Manhatten.
