I had roaches in the room, reported it 4 times only at the last report was i offered a room change. looked clean enough, retro 50's look only with ORIGINAL 50's furniture!--- what there was of it, because the room was sooo small. seedy chair and cabinet enclosing the TV. Bedside table- a jutting piece of wood nailed to the wall. Staff was nice enough. Great Location

We stayed at the Ameritania Hotel over 4th of July weekend. After reading most of the reviews I was a little afraid of bringing my family to this hotel. I have been to NY many times and have stayed at many hotels and this one was just as good as the others for the money you pay. The room was small, but very clean. We always came home to a clean room with fresh towels after a very long day of sightseeing. As for the bathroom, that is our only small complaint. The shower has no curtain, just a half glass wall. If you have a family that is not modest then you will be fine, unfortunately for us we like our privacy. The staff was very helpful when asking for directions or even looking up the next days weather on his cell phone! I also loved the coffee bar. The best cups of coffee I had in the city came from the hotel. So in a nutshell, yes the rooms are small, the hallways are dark, but since the price was right and the location was great , there really is nothing to complain about. We would stay here again.

What a dump

Styed here for St. Paddy's day 07, the worst place i ever stayed hands down.. My friends and I had to move rooms twice, first time the hallway leading to the room had a terrible smell of dampness which was also filtering into the room. On the second occasion the shower and the toilet stopped working in the bathroom. Eventually we got moved to an upper class suite, which at best was average. We all agree we would never stay at this place again. To top it all of, for the previous four times i had been to this great city it was the most expensive and by far the worst......... Never be back..........

FANTASTIC HOTEL LOVED IT

I stayed at the Ameritania Hotel earlier this year with my parents. I'm 15 and loved it. Why is everybody complaining? The doormen were lovely and as soon as we stepped out of the taxi put our bags on the rail and carried them to our room. The reception staff were very friendly and kind, they helped us with directions and helped us work the safe. We had a gorgeous room with 2 double beds on the 1st floor. There was loads of room! The bathroom was quite small but still big enough to use, although the shower was a bit hard to work. View of Broadway from the room was so nice!! The T.V also had good channels. From the hotel is a short walk to everywhere! Very close to Times Square and the subway station! The free tea and coffee downstairs was nice. I would recommend this hotel it was really cheap for flights and a hotel (we flew from the UK). It was my fave holiday!! And if you don't like the room then get over yourself you're in NEW YORK!!! P.S the beds were soooo comfy!! Would defo go back
