0We were most disappointed in this hotel. Having booked through online travel website before, we expected the hotel to be reflective of the rating. It didn't look anything like the pictures. Obviously, this is an older apartment building that was converted into a hotel. The rooms give the feeling that rats could be crawling around. The lobby is tiny and thank goodness there wasn't a fire while we were there because the halls are extremely narrow and wandering. The bathroom was old and to say that this hotel had been updated was very misleading. Our room was very hot (even in December), so we turned the A/C on and it make loud noises each and every night that kept us awake.
With this being our first trip to NY, we needed to get to a TV show taping on the first morning of our trip. We arrived at 11PM the night before and hadn't acclimated to the location of the hotel as it related to all of NY. The front desk assured us that the bellman would get us a cab in the morning to get us to the taping on time. He flagged us one of the "unregulated black cabs" that ripped us off. They charged us $35.00 for a 1/2 mile ride. I would have thought that the hotel would look after their "guests" instead of taking advantage of them and allowing them to be ripped off. Needless to say, after this experience, we got our own yellow cabs for the rest of the trip.
There is no restaurant or bar in the hotel, but the Manhattan Diner is nearby and has good food.
We would NEVER make another reservation in this hotel.
