Excellent Hotel and location

A friend and I stayed at the Hilton for 5 nights. This was my first trip to New York and the Hilton was the perfect place to stay. The room was wonderful, the services offered by the hotel were outstanding, and the location of the hotel was convenient for walkng to several major New York attractions and excellent restaurants. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who is planning a trip to New York.

The hotel's location was great, very close to tourist attractions. Hotel room was nice, big enough for too people. I would highly recommend this hotel.

First trip to NYC- traveled w/ 13 yr old

This was our first trip to NYC. Loved the Hilton New York. Just an FYI, there are 3 Hiltons in the same general area, this location is on 6th ave/avenue of the Americas. The hotel itself was very clean and the staff was professional and courteous. We totally loved the concierge desk. Asked a ton of questions and they were able to help with everything from supplying a safety pin to getting us to the subway or JFK the cheapest route. We will stay here again on our next trip. Also, take advantage of the street vendors selling food, much cheaper than eating in a restaurant. Also, they have a free service to print your boarding pass for your return flight home, BONUS! Go to Lyndie's for the chocolate cake, YUMM. Take the subway, it is way easier than you may think. We purchased the all day 'Fun Pass' You pay one price and can ride anywhere for 24 hr period. I think the price was going up the day after we left but was still going to be just over $8.

Never Again

The front desk had a line of 30 people checking in. Only one person was checking people in, three were wandering around aimlessly and what I assume was a bell captain was sitting and talking to another employee. I went to ask him if I was in the correct line (it was marked "Hilton Honors" and I am not a member there of. I had to wait for them to finish their conversation before he would even look at me. I didn't order room service so I cannot comment on it. However, the maid started knocking on the door at 9:15AM the day of my departure (checkout is 12:00). She knocked again at 10:00, I was in the bathroom so she came in and entered the room without knocking at 10:50 with the lame excuse of she thought she saw us leave already. I stored my bags for a few hours while I walked around and I had purchased quite a few gifts, in other words, lots of little bags that I paid $3.50 a bag for. By the time my son and I got back to the hotel we had covered the entire upper east side - we do this once a week-and we were tired so I grabbed a luggage cart and went to buy back my stored luggage. Two bellman arrive and after I have everything loaded tell me I can not use the cart without asking the bell captain first and getting one of them assigned to me. They make me unload the cart and they take it back. After 4 trips to the garage with our luggage the $85.00 parking bill with no credit/discount for staying at the hotel was the proverbial cherry on top of the sundae.
