"Great hotel for the price!"

i got this hotel on Priceline for 130.00 and it was an EXCELLENT value. The location was perfect if you want to go to the theater and walk around the Time Square area. We signed up for the free MOS card and when we checked in, we got upgraded for free. Our room had a queen bed and adequate room around the bed...I would say 6 feet on the one side towards the windows and 3 feet on the other side. The bathroom was fine...shower was FANTASTIC. The room is a bit dark (hard to put on makeup) but the bed is comfortable and the room is VERY quiet. The lobby is great and we also enjoyed the Paramount Bar where there was a DJ each night. Very hip spot. We also went for one breakfast since with the MOS card you got one free if you paid for one. After we ate there we discovered that the one breakfast buffet was 24.00 so that was an ok deal but not fantastic unless you really love to eat tons at the buffet. The other days we got coffee and pastries downstairs. I would love to stay there again!

It's "location location location" for the Paramount Hotel you should add "location" a few more times. The location is great and that is the only thing good about them. First night the AC failed. It was 80 degrees and humid. I was soaking wet with sweat. Opening the window required strength, brought little relief and the constantly honking horns. They supplied no services guide to tell me how to call the front desk. I could find no icemaker and no ice bucket in the room. In the morning I reported everything to the front desk and was told it would be taken care of. After being gone all day, the AC was still broken, no ice bucket and no hotel guide. I spoke to the manager and finally the hotel engineer came up to check the AC. The engineer said AC needed to be off for at least an hour to thaw. After 90 minutes, it still would not work. On second trip to see the manager, I requested an extension cord. I used the hair drier to thaw the coil and get the AC to work. But, what if I didn?t have 12 years experience as a refrigeration tech? The ice bucket and hotel guide were still absent when I checked out. Their website claims, ?recently renovated?. Yet, I had to dodge scaffolding to get in. The manager blamed their problems on ongoing renovations. For $44.99 a night I expect a LOT better. For the $150 a night they charged they were pathetic. The manager did discount my second night. But, I would rather have paid full price at another hotel than go through this for free. I saved for years for this vacation and spent much of it exhausted and dehydrated. I would never stay there again.

Never Again!

First of all the actual Paramount Website say the hotel is newley renovated. When we and my party arrived there was scaffolding everywhere. Many of the entranced where blocked off, the bar was closed, and the restaurant was closed. It is apparent that they are not finished with the renovation. It is in excellent proximity to Times Square, resturants, and anything else you could imagine, but the quality of the hotel is poor. Housekeeping service was horrible. Each time I requested a certain # of towels they brought less. Check-in lines were long and the staff was not courteous until check out! I would not recommend this hotel if you are looking for luxury. I am used to room service or at least an ice machine......they had none of this!

The hotel was under renovation, and because of the scaffolding, the taxi passed the hotel twice, so they need to get their name out there better. The hotel lobby was quite dark and almost gloomy. There was not enough staff at check in so I waited close to 15 minutes for that. My room was one of the renovated ones, in deco/retro colors of red, black and white. The room was clean, but low and behold, the bed was a pull out couch, which was never stated that way on the website. It wasn't your usual pull out mattress and was quite thick and comfortable, however I had no sheets or pillows for the bed. I called to front desk 3 times over an hour long period, and finally fell asleep with no pillows or bed linens ever arriving. When I spoke to management the next day, I got an apology, but no compensation as to a discount, a drink or meal in a local bar or anything.

This hotel was booked 1 month in advance; however, when we arrived (late arrival was secured) "they did NOT have a room for us". So they were "sorry" but the manager didn't seem to care. They had a room at their "sister hotel" (8 blocks away). We didn't get past the lobby but even so I would not recommend this hotel! It is under renovation, maybe even finished?? Couldn't even find it the 1st three times we drove around because of all the scaffling out front. The lobby was so dark and it was an unpleasant atmosphere in my opinion. Hats off to their "sister" hotel, the DoubleTree Metroplitian. What started out to be a disaster (Paramount) ended in absolute satisfaction!
