We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights, and while it wasn't the best hotel we ever stayed in, it was far from the worst. Our room was in the "600 building", and we had to pass through the parking garage to get to our room. As others have mentioned, this hotel is only 1 block from Bourbon Street, but our room was very quiet and comfortable. It is an older hotel and has a lot of charm. Our room was somewhat dark, but it was cleaned daily, and with the air conditioner, we didn't have any problems with dampness. The bed was very comfortable and we slept well. The continental breakfast was just okay, but the coffee was good. For the price [$80/night], we were satisfied and would go back again,

I was a bit hesitant after reading some of the reviews about this hotel, but I had booked and paid through Orbitz, so could not change it. So I went. It was nice. Now, its a old hotel and it could possibly use updating here and there, but to me it all added to the mystic. I don't know what room category I booked, but I think I ended up with some type of upgrade (like a suite) Room 605...cause I ended up with a kitchen area complete with a full size refrig./microwave/sink/dishwasher and a dining table and chairs and a big walk in closet. (My sister who went with me and stayed in another room...did not get all this...but her room was still nice.) There was even a mock fireplace in my room. The t.v. was a bit small. There was free in room internet...nice. Again, I think it just depends on what you're looking for. Its nothing especially fancy, but to me it was a real, French Quarter style hotel. Now, the view definitely left something to be desired, basically I had no view, but I did not mind because the room was spacious and comfortable. The hotel staff was always very pleasant and quickly remembered my name. The cleaning ladies were nice, and helped us with anything we needed, but if we were present when they stopped by, they did not always offer to clean the room, just asked if we needed anything. That worked for us though, cause I don't like people in my room much, so I usually just requested towels. I can make my own bed, actually my husband made the bed...he does a good job. As for the location, the hotel was in very close walking distance to Bourbon Street, yet far enough away to avoid some of the noise. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants the true New Orleans experience and atmosphere and fairly close proximity to Bourbon Street/French Quarter.
