Great Hotel, Great Staff and Great Location

We stayed at the Monteleone for three nights with two other couples and had a wonderful time. First class facilities with professional, personable and experienced staff. Stayed in one of the King Preferred rooms on the 15th floor not facing the street. Our room was quiet, well appointed, clean and in very good condition. Great location to visit downtown sites or to catch one of the City's trolly cars.

WE THOUGHT THE HOTEL WAS LOVELY. WE GOT THE ROOM AT THE SUMMER RATE OF $*, AND REALLY I WAS VERY PLEASANTLY SURPRISED WHAT A GREAT DEAL IT IS. BUT... IF YOU'RE ONE THAT LIKE QUIET AT NIGHT,FORGET IT. WE GOT IN FRIDAY NIGHT AND WERE KEPT AWAKE BY: MUSIC FROM CLUBS, BASE BOOMING FROM CARS, CAR ALARMS, SIRENS, AND JUST PEOPLE WALKING AND TALKING OUTSIDE. MIND YOU WE WERE ON THE 7TH FLOOR. I IMAGINE IT WILL BE THE SAME FOR ANY HOTEL IN THE HEART OF THE FRENCH QUARTER, SO I RECOMMEND IT.

A Clean, Comfortable, Convenient and Historic Hotel

The doormen were polite and prompt. The hotel has a beautiful front lobby. It invited you to sit and relax and people watch. Check in was breeze, and we were able to check in early. The room was clean, linens were of good quality, and the bed was comfortable. Our room was on the 15th floor, so the view was great. The rotating Carousel Bar off the lobby was a fun place to hang out and the bartenders were very friendly. The rooftop pool was clean and the deck area nicely landscaped. We watched sunset from the roof patio and it was very relaxing before a night on the town. The best thing was its convenient location near both Canal and Bourbon Streets. Everything we wanted to see was either within walking distance, or a short walk to the streetcar stop. The staff was very accommodating - anything we needed, we'd call the desk for and it was to our room within a few minutes. The hotel had roaming security walking each floor at night so it was very safe. The only negatives were 1) the bathroom was so narrow that the toilet had to be installed at an angle and you could not open the door if my spouse was on the commode. 2) The concierge through whom I arranged dinner plans was a bit snooty. Visitors would not know where streets/buildings were located, so I was put-off by her rolling of the eyes, and 3) the room minibar is both not refrigerated and has sensored shelves, so if you even move items around to see what is available you could get charged for it.

The service was deplorable. No assistance with bags and management did not care about our concerns. The rooms were very small for the money. This was the most money I have every paid for a hotel room and the worst service I have ever experienced.

Hotel was extremely clean and the location is in the Heart of the French Quarter. Local shops and Art galleries line the streets of Royal. Just one block from Bourbon St. the Staff is very helpful from Doormen to trip planners and Bartenders to maid service. I would/and shall return to this hotel next year. We stayed from 4/13/09 thry 4/16/09. Weather was perfect and the food and music is awesome. Don't fear the French Quarter they need our vacation dollars and support the arts. Local restaurants and Pubs and Nightlife treat you like your local. So much to see and do while visiting. Take a trolly car to the Garden District, or take a river walk and shop at local street fairs. Eat a muffuletta sandwhich and grab a hurricane and walk and just take it all in. Architecture and detail to the buildings and streets all should be expierenced at least once. Don't forget to visit Bourbon street at night They all have drink specials and the prices are very reasonable. You can go with a budget of 4 bucks a day or * bucks a day there is something for everyone...Enjoy!
