Residence Inn Marriott Naples - Naples, USA 

Stayed here for 12 days in Feb. 2008. Had a nice quiet room on the third floor. Last year we had a room on the main floor just by the exit to the lobby area and found the constant slamming of the exit door by other guests was distracting in the morning, so we decided to try the third floor...big improvement. Also last year the air conditioner sounded like a nuclear reactor when it started up...this time, the noise was quite reasonable. The wireless internet in the Gatehouse also extends around the pool area, which was nice and we used our laptop with no issues. Free wired access in the room worked fine too. Very clean and neat room, and well-cleaned by the maid service service during our stay. Ice maker in large fridge a nice touch. Close to everything in Naples.....very nice restaurant called Alexanders right next door, with amazing food albeit a bit pricey. Minor complaint...the steel poolside chairs (not the lounges) are real back-breakers...we constantly used poolside towels to "pad" the backs of these chairs.....amazingly poor design. On our final night, a major rainstorm struck Naples and water began coming into our room through the air conditioner system. After we notified staff, they brought in a noisy carpet dryer and then just left it there...did not hear anything back from staff. Later that day, could not stand the noise anymore so put the dryer in the hallway and lived with the wet section of carpet since it was our last day anyway. Had this happened on the first day, we would have followed up a bit better. On this particular incident, the service was not satisfactory to us. However, storms aside, a very nice place in a beautiful city. We will be coming back in 2009 for sure.
