Searched for a hotel in Beverly Hills, this one seemed to have it all...until we got there. The best part of this hotel is definitely the location (on Rodeo). There are tons of great little restaurants all around (Beverly Dr., etc.). Just walk around (off Rodeo) and you'll find plenty to choose from. The shopping is more like sightseeing! I'm more of a Gap/Banana Republic girl (which they have there!) but looking in the windows of stores like Valentino, Gucci, Fendi can be fun too. The hotel itself is very odd. It seems like maybe it used to be an office building or something. The lobby is more like a hallway than what you'd picture as a lobby. Front desk very small. Parking is the worst. You have to enter from the alley and valet your car ($28 a night!!). The rooms are small, minimal furnishings. I requested a courtyard view thinking there would be something to look at - it was more like just a cemented patio with a few chairs. The other part of our view was the top of the building next door. I would request the rodeo view instead. I actually complained, wait back up, when we got there the room wasn't ready. They told to go eat and it'd be ready by 2. Back by 3:30, still not ready. Then they stuck us in the room. Yuk. I complained and asked to be moved, but they said nothing would be available until after 5or 6 pm. We have a 2-yr.-old so patience is not a virtue. We decided to stay put. The room looked very depressing, almost like a hospital room. The walls were this weird gray-green color. Kind of smelled of dust. No coffee pot in room (weird). Bathroom was comparable to a Motel 6 style (yukky bathtub with a curtain). Just wasn't what I was expecting for a Rodeo Drive hotel. Disappointed to say the least. We got a room for $275 (used our Entertainment Book discount). I think that was highway robbery for the crap hole room we had. I don't think I would stay here again. Maybe spend a little more to stay at the Beverly Hills hotel. A definite is a walk up to Sunset up the tree lined streets and just taken in the beautiful homes that are soooo Beverly Hills!! Walk to Nate n Al's deli on Beverly (a must) you're sure to spot a celebrity (we at next to Larry King!!).

Our stay at the Luxe on Rodeo Drive was short, but very much enjoyed. It is in the perfect location for Rodeo shopping, although we didn't find any nearby restaurants to have a semi casual meal at. The hotel itself is gorgeous! The lobby by the front desk was a fantastic greeting. The rooms were clean and included anything you'd need for a pleasant stay. Thomas at the front desk seemed a bit snooty, but Bethany was amazing! We didn't like was that the congierge didn't have a desk or a counter which we found a bit odd and inconvenient. The front desk called him and when he did speak to us he answered our questions as brisk and briefly as he possibly could. Also be aware of their incidentals fee policy. We weren't informed about it until we questioned our bill and were told every hotel does it, although with our personal experience it is more of a California policy. It's a wonderful hotel with a great locations, but if it's a friendly staff with basic customer service skills you're looking for, look elsewhere.
