The place was fine. Location can't be beat, I had a real late check in, and the guy up front was very done with his day, yet very nice with me. The room was pretty cool, designed nicely. The bathroom is tiny, but who cares. It was well kept, and very chic in it's design. The rooms are loud through. I read the past reviews, and so brought ear plugs. Glad I did. The doors close very very loudly, sounds like everyone is slamming their doors. otherwise would I stay again?

Would stay here again.

My husband and I stayed here in order to visit during Art Deco weekend. We would stay here again, the price we got ($* plus taxes) seemed good for the area. We had never been to Miami Beach before so we didn't realize parking would be so difficult and expensive on South Beach. Hotel pics showed a painting on walls, ours was all white. The dead bolt didn't work and we had to ask for bath towels as there were none in our room.

Very stark room, but nice bathroom and shower. Limited TV reception, with no network or local channels. Full bar in the lobby that was never open. No coffee for guests. Required a $* room damage deposit iln spite of having credit card for ilncidentals. Wake up call request written in a notebook, and then never given. After generating credit card slip for damage deposit on cc card, said they didn't take that cc, and had to take my card back to issue a criedit on a card they supposedly don't take. In general, a Mickey Mouse operation that would not merit ever returning.

If you think this is too good to be true, I have got news for you! It's not! As a Miamian, I am well versed about the South Beach scene and where to go. Last weekend I needed to get away and decided why not stay here and take advantage of what South Beach has to offer. The President Hotel offered me the perfect stay - right here in Paradise! The room was absolutely out of this world! The lovely modernly decorated room had my favorite colors together - white and granny apple green! Two perfectly shaped apples waited for me at the top of each pillow? I felt like I had my own terrace (which I did) and that I was still connected to everything that was happening around me! I walked everywhere...for breakfast, for lunch and for dinner...and yes, for a night out - that I will never forget!!! The staff...from the moment I arrived made me feel welcomed and ensured that the check-in process went as smoothly as possible. They had my room cleaned every day...I would leave for breakfast and by the time I got back - puff!!! Cleaned!!!! I highly recommend The President...

Not as bad as you think

I had the same experience as others mentioned about being switched from the Penguin to the President. That was a little frustrating. But I think you get what you pay for. This isn't a top of the line hotel and I thought it was pretty decent. I was expecting a lot worse upon opening up the hotel room door. I was very surprised to see a clean room that was inviting. The bathroom didn't have a mirror and was very small. But there was a large floor to ceiling mirror in the room to compensate. There isn't much customer service, but who stays in the hotel all day anyways when you're in Miami. I was only disappointed in the fact that I didn't get to stay on Ocean Dr, because that was the whole idea in booking at the Penguin. I had to settle for the President which is located on Collins.
