4.3I stayed at the Cecil Hotel during E3 this year (July14th-18th 2008). Overall it was a decent hotel. Make sure you request a room with a bathroom in the room.
The rooms are rather small, but if you are gone most of the day, its not too bad. Just FYI, there is not AC in the rooms, so if you plan on being in the room a lot, then this might not be the place for you.
Like I mentioned before I was gone most of the day, so by the time I was getting back to the hotel, it was around 8-9 pm so it was cooling off enough to open the window and turn the ceiling fan on and it was comfortable all night. Staff was friendly, the area around I was told was rough, and believe me I'm not a fighter, but felt safe. They do have a Security Staff on 24/7 and were always present. Also there is no "free" parking though right next door is a paid parking, though I dont know how much it was as I took a shuttle from the airport to hotel then relied on buses or my feet. Everything is close enough, to me it was a waste of money to have a car.
The bus system is pretty good and can get you to the the LACC within ten minutes and you can walk within 20 min. Metro Station is just a couple blocks down the road also.
If your looking to save money, this is the place to stay, if your bringing your family you might want to stay elsewhere. I'm going to stay their when I come out for E for All in October.
