Valamar Crystal Hotel - Porec, Croatia 

Suitable for families with small children, lot of entertainment for children. Beatiful shadow in pine wood for walking. Lot of different type of beach. A nice hotel pool with warmed sea water, but people occupies places around the pool with their towels to reserve the place, even if they are not there. So lack of free places under umbrellas and on seats. Beside children, adults jumping in water on the pool too. No visible man on pool to establish order. Food average or good quality, but no enough room in dining hall. You can not have the same table always at meals, you have to get momentary free table. Wery croudy and full dining hall. At meals (supper) you will be charged aprox. 3 euro for 1dl red wine Cabernet. The staff nice and friendly, especially older chief of waiters in dining hall (real gentleman behaviour). It can be happen, while you leave table to get salad, your meal can wanish in dishes. The rooms in lowest level (on ground) can be humid (we were there last week in June 2008 - start of season).On request we changed the room very quickly. Rooms are quite nice and big, but no refrigerator bar (hotel with three stars) and TV set very small.

There are many good hotels in Croatia i believe. At least I've seen one. First of all location - 100m to the seashore, 15 minutes walk from Pore? center, when I'm saying walk, I mean walk, not run. We didn't have a sea view from our room but cypress grove was so peaceful. Especially in the evenings. But if you'd like to experience something romantic just go to the walk after the sunset - on the other side of the bay you'll see Pore? lights. And do not be afraid - it is totally safe! Rooms aren't too big, maybe it is a question of price, anyway we enjoyed intimacy. Restaurant, bar and other facilities (like swimming pool) are clean and cozy, especially open terrace. Cleaning personal was very friendly and polite. I cannot say the same about reception and restaurant management - they were EXTREMELY polite, friendly and helpful. My best wishes to Marko, Branko, Marinko, Vladimir, Ines, Eduardo (hush, he is the Boss ;) and all the rest. They make us feel like home. I can remember some ten episodes when they behaved more friendly than some of my relatives at their place. Meal. Unfortunately evening drinks not included. Breakfast and dinner are served in smorgasbord style. Food is cooked well, and you can eat from 8 till 10 AM. Dinner from 7 to 9 PM. Bars are opened till 12PM. In general, maybe it is not the most luxury and pretentious hotel you may see in Pore? area. But honestly comparing with 4-stars hotels in Vilnius (Lithuania) Crystal is better. You get the value for your money and pleasant memories which cannot be evaluated ;) I would advice my friend to stay there.
