Location

Cecina Mare is one of the peculiar venues of the Etruscan Coast framed by crystal clear waters and beautiful Mediterranean bush scattered in pine-woods and chestnut trees.

The area also houses several well preserved Medieval villages like Castagneto Carducci, Suverto e Campiglia Marittima, that still maintain important traces of defensive walls and stone buildings.

To go even further back in the centuries don't miss the ancient Polulonia, the only Etruscan town grown as a maritime commercial base and metal crafting centre.

Dining

Il becco reale - 5th floor 01/06 - 15/9
Il Becco Reale Restaurant is set on the fifth floor of the Tornese Hotel. It is set inside an invaluable frame of a panoramic view in the round of the coast and its endless pine-woods that skirt it.
In summer, the restaurant is open every evening. Guests may have dinner by candlelight, dandled by sweet tunes of piano and really immersed in a romantic atmosphere.

"Elisa" restaurant pizzeria" - ground floor 365/365
It is set on the ground floor of Tornese Hotel. At Elisa Restaurant Pizzera you may taste a typical Mediterranean Tuscan cooking, an excellent pizza with a particular attention for tomato and mozzarella cheese, (baked in a wood) burning oven as the ancient Neapolitan tradition.
You may find a welcome and informal atmosphere nevertheless, the place is very refined, the service is simple, helpful and accurate.
In this place so friendly and pleasant, there is a great attention for details as it is the Management at Tornese Hotel.
Elisa Pizzeria is open 7 days a-week, 365 days a-year and it is among the most exclusive places of the Etruscan Coast.

Cairoli terrace - 6th floor 01/06 - 15/09
Cairoli Terrace is set on the sixth floor of Tornese Hotel. It overlooks in the round the extraordinary view where the sea and pine-wood colours matches one another uncommonly at first sight. It is perfect for evening aperitifs, service at the terrace, outdoors, surrounded by charming sunsets that magnify the coast.
Your drinks will be accompanied by a wide music selection and they will be carefully prepared by our barmaid A.I.B.E.S. Barabara Carli.
Moreover the Terrace is particularly recommended for a private party organized to the last detail: from individual invitation to the choice of the deejay.

La taverna del pittore - Bolgheri 365/365
Passing through the famous cypresses boulevard, chanted in the renowned Carducci's poet - that spent here his youth, - you arrive at this village with the perfect mood to welcome an outstanding view.
As far as the wine is concerned in Bolgheri, we may only say that there you may find first-rate wines in the art of wine-making in the world. Indeed the best Italian wine growers have been contending for securing a strip of land, blessed by God. If we have to use just one word to describe Bolgheri, we will say: "unmissable".
La Taverna del Pittore Restaurant is in 4, Largo Nonna Lucia. It is full of histoical authenticity: indeed it has been one of the first restaurant in Bolgheri.
It is set in Belvedere Square of the small village that views the wonderful landscape that overlooks the hills up to the Etruscan coast.
In summer, the restaurant is characterised also by the outdoor area: a stop is a must and not only to taste its cooking but also to enjoy the wonderful scenery that this village recalls.
During the winter, guests usually appreciate the warm atmosphere in a homely place, characterised also by a professional and refined service.
Of particular worth it is the new "Fireplace Hall" that gives a touch of warmth and familiarity.

"Nonna dina" wine bar & shop - In front of the holtel
01/06 - 30/09
Since August 2004, Tornese Hotel has crowned the Food & Beverage offer with the opening of the delightful Nonna Dina wine-shop.
Indeed, in front of the hotel, in the core of Cecina Mare, this charming wine-shop has been renamed "The emotional shop".
Indeed you may feel intense emotions given by its typical Tuscan-style shopfitting and the best variety of wines you may find, renowned all over the world. You may relax yourself in a warm and soothing atmosphere, read a good book, taste the exquisite typical Tuscan dishes and fully enjoy the particular flavours that only the well-known wines of this area may have.
An extra word goes all to the small outside garden: the scent of spices and flowers matches with the shadow of the trees and create an intense emotion of quiet and peacefulness.

We are young seniors, who were pleasantly surprised, not only by the hotel, but the adjacent restaurant and the town. We were driving down the coast from Pisa to Rome and stopped here for a night. We had requested a room with a view of the sea and it was a lovely view, with a balcony from which to watch the sunset. We would definitely return, not only to this resort town, but to the Hotel Tornese. Polly B. Canada

We wanted to augment our trip to Tuscany with an day/evening by the sea, but we had trouble finding a recommended hotel. We took a chance on Hotel Tornese--it was the only place we booked that wasn't based on TripAdvisor recommendations (no reviews had been written). Well, we won't make that mistake again. For starters, the city seemed like a dying resort town (we were there on June 1 and it was rather deserted--except at midnight, when lots of loud and raucous people gathered on the boardwalk beneath our window). The small beach was composed of thick black sand and big rocks, which made strolling difficult. The front desk staff kept our passports for several hours before returning them (we had to ask for them three times). The hallways were so dark that we couldn't read our room numbers or get our keys in the door. The rooms were okay, but they had a funky smell. The fifth-floor restaurant had a lovely view, but the predetermined menu was filled with unpleasant surprises (little squids, fishy-smelling seafood) and bland preparation. If we had to do it again, we would skip our trip to the sea and spend another day in the rolling hills of Tuscany.
