Our experience was teriffic. The property is in a beautiful Chicago north side "neighborhood" ... we loved the ambiance and the classic nature of the hotel. We also liked being slightly off the beaten path, yet within walking distance to a variety of dining, bistros, etc. We liked not staying in one of the "big boxes" (Marriott, Sheraton, Hilton) for a change ... and the bonus was the staff was supurb. Most helpful. The concierge was top notch!
Thanks for making our anniversary weekend a delight!
Did not have ice machines on every floor - stayed on the 15th floor and had to travel to the 8th floor for ice. Was charged $1.15 for a local phone call and $6.33 for a one call to a Pennsylvania-based cell phone which I thought was excessive.

The location is wonderful. The lake is a couple of minutes walk away and the magnificent mile is around a 20 minute walk. The street the hotel is on is very picturesque and quiet but there are plenty of lively bars just a block away in the division area. The hotel is very clean and has traditional classiness but the rooms are slightly dated. No complaints at all. Definitely recommend.

We were there just for a relaxing vacation. The staff was friendly; the concierge was the best I have ever met. Ask[...] for any information; he has it. We visited the neighborhoods; saw the incredible architecture; ate at fabulous LOCAL restaurants (not tourist traps). If you are moderately skilled bicyclists (not complete novice, but road-racer status not required), rent bikes at Bike & Roll, and have a fun day visiting neighrhoods in North Chicago from Gold Coast to Wrigleyville.
