Okay
Excellent if you don't have noisy neighbors

The Affinia is comfortable and attractive, the staff lively and considerate. Aesthetics and amenities are very good. The downside? Poor sound insulation in the corridor walls -- one hears every voice and footstep out in the corridor. Three doors down from us, in a room across the hall, a group of women partied all weekend. Their laughter and screeches poured out and echoed down the corridor all Friday night. Even with a towel over my head, I couldn't sleep. Next morning I told a woman at the front desk. She took it to heart and said if it happened again I should call down. Saturday night someone must have spoken to them because they came off the elevator quietly and didn't start partying again until morning. Only one elevator worked to the upper floors, but staff stood by to entertain us while we waited. Overall, I'd try the Affinia again. The location is excellent, the atmosphere friendly. The room offers everything essential; nothing excessive. And, in a nod to energy conservation, the lights are on dimmers.

Good
Small, but nice

We found a good deal (about $*/night) for the double bed guest room, which I believe is their cheapest room. The two beds were nice and comfortable, but there was not much room, which wasn't a problem since we weren't there except to sleep. The service was wonderful - we were treated respectfully and the staff was quick to offer recommendations about where to eat and shop. The first night we were too tired to leave the room, and ordered room service from the in-house restaurant and were quite impressed - the prices for lunch and dinner were actually fairly reasonable. Breakfast (which we did not order) seemed overpriced. We used the valet service which was pricey but stress-free. Our room had a well stocked mini bar with snacks and a nice view of downtown. Gino's East next door was awesome. I was prepared after reading other reviews for the lack of bath tub - but after being in high heels nearly all day, I would have appreciated a place to soak my feet! There was also a cold draft from the window, but we were able to adjust the heat enough to make the room quite comfortable. We stayed during the week, so I didn't expect it to be very noisy, but we did hear a lot of garbage trucks and sirens. Nothing from within the hotel itself though. Overall, we were very pleased with the room, the service, and the location.

This has become my deafult hotel in Chicago. Very decent hotel that is walking distance to good restraunts and entertainment yet a short cab ride to the business district. Very good value for the business traveler.
