This motel is a long in the tooth, and could use a bit of freshening up. The first of two nights we arrived after 9:00 p.m., but the night manager was accommodating. Unfortunately, we were sent to a room that smelled very stuffy, mildewy and moldy. They moved us the next day to a brighter and fresher-smelling room. The business is split: motel units (run-of-the-mill, as noted), and lodge (which we did not see any of), so I can only comment on the motel side of things. Gripes & pet-peeves: 1) pillows are pretty bad, and towels in the bathrooms are small and thin (i.e., bargain-basement stuff); 2) beverage and ice machines are a 100 yard walk from the motel units to the office; 3) breakfast prices are high ($9 for 3 blueberry pancakes) -- with insult added to injury when they charge an extra $2 for real maple syrup (vs. Aunt Jemima) -- $30+ for a 2-person breakfast with juice, coffee, etc. is pretty steep for any place, but is shocking in this setting. On a "bang-for-the-buck" scale, this place rates a C-. (PS: the name is a bit deceiving -- you are a few miles from Wellfleet, not anywhere near the town; you would not want to try walking into Wellfleet from here.)

My family and I have stayed at the Wellfleet Motel and Motor Lodge for the past several years and have found it consistently good. The rooms are big and clean and we like that there is both an indoor and outdoor pool, so if it's raining, we can still swim. It's nice and quiet-- we haven't run into any noisy families or parties. It's really close to the drive-in and flea market. It's a bit of a drive to Wellfleet Center, but that's OK. The price is also good compared to other hotels in the area.
