Well, last week i returned from my trip to Boston. I've been there for one week and i stayed at the Hotel Commonwealth for the whole time. Positive feedback from tripadvisor made me choose this hotel. Overall, i can say that i am satisfied with my choice, but there werde also some minor things that made this not the "perfect experience".
Checking in was quick and easy. The doorman was very helpful when i arrived with my cab. I was asked at the front desk if i wanted a newspaper brought up to my room, but i never got one. He also asked me, if i need help with my luggage, but he never called somone to help me. Okay, i could have asked again for those two services, but i am not the type of person to ask for help when the other person clearly understood me the first time.
The room itself was nice and spacious. The Bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was also quite spacious and it seemed in a good condition. Water from the shower took quite some time to heaten up (up to 10 or more minutes). The majority of the content of the minibar was beyond its expiration date (from 1/2 year up to 2 years). I brought an old diet coke, which i took out, down to the front desk and that guy there said that i won't be charged for it. I found it on my bill anyways, but they took it out after i complained about it. My room also seemed to have thin walls, as i was able to hear a lot from my neighbours. Finally, the phone in my room partially stopped working (recieving calls directly and voicemail) for almost a day.
I still enjoyed my stay at the Commonwealth quite alot. Mainly because people were very friendly and because of those spacious rooms. The area around the hotel was, besides Fenway Park, not that great in my opinion. For sightseeing you either have to walk quite some time or use public transit. The latter is easy, because you're "sitting" above Kenmore station. Still, if you're not interested going to Fenway and if you want to stay at a more central place, you maybe should consider another hotel more downtown.

My wife and I just returned from a 3-night stay at the Commonwealth, and it was a great experience. As other reviewers have stated, the staff at this hotel are all extremely polite and helpful. The concierge was rarely at his station when we walked by, but the front desk staff were always available to answer any questions we had.
When I inquired about a good local place to grab a quick breakfast on the run, I was a bit disappointed that the only place suggested by the front desk was the in-hotel Eastern Standard restaurant. Detecting that this wasn't going to be fast enough to meet our schedule, another guest piped in that there was a good bagel shop directly across the street.
We also neglected to bring a USB cable with us to download pictured from our camera to our laptop we had brought with us. I had hoped the staff would be able to track one down that we could borrow, but alas they were unable, so we ended up running to the CVS up the road and purchasing a new memory card.
One other complaint was the thin walls detectable from the bathrooms. I could clearly hear the bathroom being used either directly next door or above me while I was in the bathroom.
One other thing to be aware of is the cost of parking at this hotel. Each night will set you back $39!
Aside from those few hiccups, our stay was outstanding. The room was gorgeous. We had drinks at the Foundation lounge at the bottom of the hotel, and that was a pleasant experience as well. The access to the Kenmore station came in very handy for getting around town.
I would certainly recommend this hotel to others and though there are other hotels I'd like to try in Boston, I would return to the Commonwealth in the future.
