I stayed here while attending a conference at the Cobb Convention Center. Hotel was really just OK. I had trouble with the internet when I checked in and a staff member was quick to try to help me but, I ended up just having to call the 800# for assistance. Room Service was OK and the breakfast buffet was good in the morning. I walked to the convention center and I just didn't like the elevator in the parking garage, was a little scary.

Vandalism at Sheraton Suites Cobb Galleria
On March 11, 2008, we checked in at the hotel. We were going out for the evening in the Atlanta area. Sunday I had plans on going to Columbus, Ga., where my grand mother (100 years old) was in the hospital, expected to pass away within 1to 2 days. My wife was going back to our home in Gainesville,Ga.
We arrived back at the hotel, around 2AM Sunday morning, we noticed 2 young men leaning in a car in the circle entrance of the hotel talking to the driver. I told my wife that does not look good. We parked her car on the level above where my van was parked; I noticed glass in the parking lot. I commented to Susan that glass looks like windshield glass. Why would there be windshield glass? Now I know.
Please consider the following points.
1- The van was broke into between 2:30 AM and 11:30 AM that Sunday morning. No one at the hotel was aware that it was broken into. Why? There should have been a shift change at 7 am.
2- When I told the officer about seeing the glass on the next level, he said yes, we have been here before.
Why are people hanging out in the parking area at 2AM?
At 11:30 Sunday morning I went to the second level of the hotel parking deck. My flashers were on, and my driver’s window had been smashed. My GPS had been stolen. I took pictures of the damage and other pictures of the parking lot.
My personal loss was my GPS, and not being able to make my planned trip. I had to return to my home in Gainesville to have the windshield repaired on Monday. This is a wake up call for us. We consider the hotel unsafe. There were no patrols of the parking area, no cameras, on any level or at the entrance or exits in the garage. This is a place where a criminal will have a level of comfort, knowing chances of being caught are slim. When will the break-ins change to robbery at gun point, murder, and or rape? The cost of $326, my GPS, is a cost to education, and it is a good investment. It is a small cost compared to being attacked by criminals. We have spent our last night at the Cobb Galleria Sheraton.
I talked to the hotel manager, they have a sign in the garage stating they are not responsible for stolen items or damage to vehicle. So they do not see any fault.
Thank you,
