I traveled to Atlanta with my family and chose to stay at the Residence Inn for the convenience of having a two bedroom suite. Upon arrival I was informed that I had been placed in two one bedroom suites that were next door to one another. I explained that I was traveling with two small children and that this would be quite inconvenient for my family. I asked why was I not notified by email or phone that the room I guaranteed would not be available during my stay. Michael at the front desk apologized, but the hotel was oversold so there was nothing he could do. He did reduce the room rate for the inconveniece, which was a good gesture, but did little to help the fact that my family would have to be split for the next four nights.
There were three people staying in one suite, but we never could get housekeeping to leave three sets of towels. Eventhough three sets were there the day we checked in. We asked for extra towels on two diffreent days and were told that we had to go to the front desk to get them. We were asked not to take the room towels to the pool, but the pool never had towels available. I had to go to the front desk on three different days to get pool towels and on two days I was told that they were being laundered.
We returned to the hotel from a long day a Six Flags only to find that our keys did not work. I went to the front desk and was told that my keys expired at noon on Sunday eventhough my checkout day was not until Monday. We requested a 2pm checkout on Monday which was granted. We decided to do some last minute shopping at Phipps Plaza Monday morning only to return to the Residence Inn and guess what???? My keys didn't work AGAIN.
I agree with the previous poster regarding the AC either it's a blast or nothing at all.
My family and I did enjoy the sites and attractions of Atlanta/Buckhead and chose not to let our stay at the Residence Inn ruin our trip.

This was my second stay at this property. I didn't experience most of the problems during my first stay that I did this time.
PROS: Very convenient to supermarkets, malls, highways and gas stations.
Very quiet location - no street noise, a pretty, residential area.
Free parking
Free wireless Internet access in the room
Friendly staff.
CONS:
Staff seemed unaware of my request for a high floor room.
Carpeting needs cleaning/updating.
Air conditioning unit in the room was very noisy and inefficient (constant cold blasting air, or none at all). No Fan Only option.
Room smelled musty and had a pronounced "pet odor".
Hallway noise (doors slamming, elevator noise) might have been minimized if the doors to the suite had been properly fitted into the frame without the large gaps between door frame and door.
Parking can be a tight squeeze in the covered garage because of the concrete support pillars.
The bedroom television would shut off inexplicably. I'm guessing that someone else was using a device on the same frequency. (Never had this happen in a hotel before.)
Light Sleepers Be Warned! The hotel abutts a number of buildings that have their garbage picked up at about 6 AM. I was far from the dumpsters yet heard the noise clearly. It only happened one morning (Monday), but it was loud!
I'm not sure if I'd stay here again on my next trip to Atlanta. The kitchen is a very convenient feature, but the room's pet smell was really bothersome. Although when I mentioned it to the housekeeper she applied something which kind of, sort of covered up the odor. I would have asked to be moved to another room but the hotel was sold out.
I've stayed at the Renaissance Waverly and the JW Marriott Buckhead which are two properties that are much nicer, but they can bust your travelling budget!
This Residence Inn is OK for a short stay but could be so much better.
