Seray Hotel - Marmaris, Turkey 

Have just returned from a week staying at the Hotel Seray in Marmaris. Once we managed to get into our room (1.00 pm on the second day) we were able to appreciate the high standard of service and good quality room! On arrival we were given no reason why but were taken to a nearby hotel where we were expected to stay at least overnight due to hotel being full. Alternative accommodation was very poor, furnture not good, toilet facilities almost non existant. After several lengthy discussions with hotel manager that night and the next morning we were moved into our correct room in the hotel. This room was 100% better with good furniture and decor etc and was clean and tidy. Facilities at hotel were OK but pool needed more beds and sun shades provided (it was nearly 43C for most days whilst we were there). Also due to amount of chemicals put into the pool some people had hair/costumes turn green! Main concern was the lack of varity of the food. Each lunch and dinner you are served the same: Rice, Salad and Chips with only one meat choice to go with the rice/chips. Daughter is vegertarian and only choice was rice, chips or salad. On one occasion they ran out of food at evening meal. Had to pay for ice creams and other things outside normal meal times. Breakfast was pretty good with a choice of eggs (boiled or scrambled)! If you go all inclusive as most guests were this is not acceptable. drinks only available until 11.00 pm and if you wanted to have a drink at front of hotel to watch world go by you were not allowed to take it through but had to pay extra! Couldn't fault the service apart from the one evening meal as stated. Bar staff/waiters etc always there to help and answer any questions/querys etc. Went out for one evening meal to a local Turkish resturant - not a British pub style! Food and service exceptional and also cheaper than the other pubs/resturants etc offering British food (didn't want to go to Blackpool).

My Girlfriend and I booked this hotel and then read the reviews on this site. So too late i thought. Our stay was a very pleasant suprise. The rooms were basic but clean and comfortable. The pool is the average size and a foliage covered wall gave total privacy (unlike 90% of all other pools in marmaris). The hotel location was excellent in being near the beach and not too close to the noisy nightlife. The food was basically Turkish but there again why go to Turkey and expect a full english breakfast. All the ingredients you could taste and smell insomuch as Vegetables smelled like vegetables, Meat tasted like meat. We never had one bad meal all week and choice was plentiful. The biggest plus is the staff they get 15 out of 10 for politeness and helpfulness. Out at the front there is an A la carte restaurant. but this is basically for anyone who wants good old food from blighty this is not part of the all inclusive because there is different management. the bar prices are the cheapest in marmaris. We go all inclusive as an option that is there if required not the be all and end all but totally enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel to all
