This hotel suffers from Lonely Planet Disease. It is rated as OK in Lonely planet so it quickly pushes up the prices. I have noticed this trend in many countries. Fortunately trip advisor does not suffer from this as you can get immediate feedback on any gouging from this site. We were looking for the hotel and were tackled by a man who spoke very good English. It transpired he worked for the Ishakpasha Hotel so we went with him. He tried to sell us a taxi to the local palace saying the Dolmus was not working (a lie). We were quoted 50 YTL for a double without breakfast but agreed on 45 YTL including breakfast (o aircon but not needed). The downstairs is gloomy and rough - the room was small, dirty and balcony entrance was blocked but - we were tired so we agreed to stay. About 10 Oclock the roof started dripping water on our heads (it had just started pouring down with rain) however (as my wife pointed out) there was one floor above us between us and any leaky roof. Workmen had caused the leak so we were moved to another (slightly nicer ) room. In the night someone tried to break into our room !! Lots of banging and noise from the workmen. Everything was dirty and crumbly. In the morning we went down for breakfast. Sat at a small table and no one came. We enquired - had to wait for someone. Eventually a bit of cheese on the same plate as some honey (mixed) - no tomato, olives or cucumber. Bread. One cup of tea. After complaint salad came after we had nearly finished. The staff were not friendly. I would never stay there again in a million years. Avoid this place like the plague!

We stayed two nights and the agreed second night discount didn't get honoured. Staff were pleasant an helpful and the hotel inclues a restaraunt. Internet prices appear dearer than just calling in as others guests had lower room rates. Our room had a tiny bathroom and when the people in the room above had a shower the water dripped down into our bathroom, manager seemed unconcerned and never offered to move us. The room had a extremely strong tobacco smoke smell especially on bedding which was unpleasant for us. Should have been 2 star and paying 50 euro or below would have been more correct at this time of year. To be fair we might have had their worst room. We moved to the Megara Palace just up the road which was 10x better at a lower price.

Hotel on very busy and noisy street, backed up against a huge wall, making back rooms dark and very badly ventilated. We got a groundfloor room on the front with an extremely busy and noisy street with a bottleneck right in front of room on an incline, causing much hooting and lots of pollution. Fumes asphixiating. Room very small, dark and unwelcoming. Toiletseat so small I could not sit on it as man (and I only have waist size 35". First they could not find reservation; maybe that's why we were given the lousy room. Kitchen/restaurant staff very willing, but do not understand any English. Did let us leave the next day without payment of the coming night ( so only paid first night). Found a much cheaper hotel on a lovely street 150 yards away, with excellent rooms, lovely personal bathroom, beautiful colors and wonderful staff. We did love Istanbul.
