Just don't go there. I have never been in a more miserable hotel in my life. The front desk manager was very condescending and not helping. A problem happened, and I went back to the front desk, but he did not care. He only complained how costly to run the hotel. He also told us to check out as soon as possible even though a late check-out had been agreed to. He doesn't care. When I raised my voice, he quickly lost temper and raised his voice. The room was very simple, and not cleaned every day. Bathroom was dirty and small, without a bathtub. Incredible that this is called 4-star. Location is terrible. Nothing good to write about. Stay away.
My thoughts about this aparthotel (Not very good) Posted: Fri, Jul 04 2008 Sultanahmet Suites is a max 1 star quality aparthostel. Definitely not a 4 star.
It is ultra-tiny inn with only 4 rooms. There is no elevator. There is a dark and steep winding staircase. There is no restaurant. The location is remote, and that was a nuisance. Don’t be disguised by the name. This apartment is not in Sultanahmet. You need to climb and conquer a very steep hill to get there. It was not very convenient for tourists. Honestly, there is nothing that I can think of as a reason to stay here. I don’t understand why reviews, which, without exception, overly praise this accommodation, keep appearing on a certain travel site.
My particular concern is the manager and his wife. They openly talk badly (= insult) about some pervious guests after they received critical reviews. They also write bitter statements on the web. They accuse and vilify their customers as “liars”! I think this is quite disgraceful. They might be looking for some sympathy from other clients, so that excessively good reviews only will appear on the internet. But I am never inclined to buy a one-sided story. More importantly, hotel managers should never openly discuss guest information with other guests, let alone attack, ridicule and trash customers in public, whatever problems they might have. I find them very unprofessional and immoral.
We will go to another (pleasant and happy) accommodation next time
Terrible Posted: Sun, Jan 20 2008 This is one of the worst hotels I have every stayed, after traveling to all the 5 continents in the world. First, the location is not Sultanahmet. It is uphill, about 20 minute-walk, to go to major attractions. The lobby is small and dark. The room is OK in terms of its size. But, although this is a 5-story building, there is no elevator. No bathtub. No telephone in the room. No room service. No restaurant. No basic amenities. Nothing except the room itself. As a result, this hotel does NOT deserve a four star. And as soon as you speak to the owner you have a hunch that you have made a mistake. He is the only staff of this hotel, but just do not seem to care that you are a customer. Customer does not seem to be the king but just a garbage. One other problem was that Wifi was broken all the time. There is a credit card fee of 4%. If you try to negotiate, you will be told to go to the POLICE. A promise not kept. Our late check out guarantee was nullified. In conclusion, all I can say is stay away from this hotel at all costs, if you want to have a pleasant holiday in Istanbul.
