Well after reading previous reviews especially the one about the unmade road and the industrial area I was prepared for the worst. Let me say right here that this is a really lovely hotel. Our room overlooked the Bospherus. The room albeit smallish was clean, nicely furnished and fantastic value. The area in which the hotel is situated is probably the best possible option. All major sites are within walking distance. The hotel is not situated in an industrial area but in a quiet side street. It is not in any way a dangerous area as described in a previous review. When checking in ask for a front facing room on the 4th floor and above. In conclusion this was one of the best hotels I have stayed in. The staff are wonderful and the location is perfect. It cost just ?70 for a double room for two nights. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

An ANOMALY

This hotel was at its best about in the 1970's. The building is elegant, all marble, a dangerous unlit staircase. Unfortunately to get to it you have to pass piles of rotting rubbish, fly tipping, sofas, etc an unmade up road that gets full of puddles in the potholes. The staff are surly. The airconditioning is so noisy or doesn't work. If you have a back room you have a view of the air conditioning plant for two hotels roaring away all night if you sleep with the window open to try and get some air in, so noisy. . Upstairs on the very top roof terrace there is a great view of the Bosphorous . If you stay ask for a front room on an upper floor with the river view. Further down on the lower floors you just see the station. Its well located for the blue Mosque and for the station and ferry terminals.

Amazing so many reviews are negative. We booked in with no problems. But found 2 single beds in our "double "room. this was sorted out next morning with again no hassle. Rooms were a bit small but ample for short stays.After days sightseeing , it was nice to get back late and have a few beers with the barman who was very friendly. Overall if you are sightseeing in Istanbul this hotel gives you bed, breakfast and a bar at a snip of the price you would pay here at home.

what a shocker

we booked this hotel for 5 nights in a suite room.it was not a suite.2 bedrooms no sitting area nothing.yes the view is nice once you look over the railway lines and station.on arrival staff DEMANDED 45 euros for transfers.we only had pounds and dollars on us so after 5 minutes they said pay when you leave.the next morning as we were leaving to get to a bank the same issue occured.the room was old and tired with paint peeling off the walls and roof.the mould in the bathroom was an eye opener.i know it is cheap so you can not expect the world but the room we got was a disgrace whether it is as they claim a 4 star or a 1 star.it is not a 4 star hotel.we checked out and found a great hotel around the corner for the same price.i will from now on read the reviews more carefully of other travellers. buyer beware with this dark and dreadful hotel which is to mean to even turn lights on when its dark!!!!truly a dreadful stay which front desk could not have given a care about in our experience there
