We spent a full week at the Faros. The rooms look just like the photos; clean and even large for a European hotel with very tall windows giving the feel of a small balcony. The beds were comfortable. There is an elevator. The hotel is located close to the Blue Mosque, Haya Sofya, Grand Bazaar, the Cistern, Cemberlitas Hamam and Topkapi Palace. The metro is out front but couldn't be heard thru the windows. The call to prayer could faintly be heard when the city was quiet, but wouldn't wake you. Though we usually eat away from hotels we enjoyed several very nice dinners plus daily brkfst at the hotel. The patio offered great people watching as locals rushed to school or work and tourists came and went. The staff were all very friendly. They spoke perfect English and eagerly welcomed our attempts at speaking Turkish. The best word they taught us was "harika" (wonderful). The hotel and people indeed were harika. We very highly recommend the Faros Hotel Istanbul.
