Hagia Sophia (50 metres) - constructed between AD 532 and 537, this superb survivor of Byzantine architecture is often considered one of the greatest and most beautiful buildings in existence. It is now home to the Ayasofya Museum.

Basilica Cistern (70 metres) - the largest of several hundred ancient cisterns that still lie beneath the city of Istanbul, capable of holding up to 80000 m³ of water.

The upper one has fantastic views in all directions, quite nice as a boutique hotel and the older front desk guy was friendly and efficient. Also the room was large, breakfast upstairs on the terrace was absolutely delicious.
