The surrounding of the location is really nice and agreeabe, rooftop terrace with wonderful views. Negative: We had booked two seperate rooms of the same category (standard double) but unfortunately they had visibly different standards, the one with balcony and large windows and new interior, the other had one very small window facing the backyard and older interior.
Both rooms were very small of size but tidy. All in all we can recommend the Uyan Hotel, but the "Quality versus Price" is not the best.
This hotel was easily within walking distance of the major historic sites, and yet it was very quiet when your got just one block away for the tourist hustle and bustle. The complimentary breakfast was varied and tasty. The tram was easily accessible for further sightseeing further abroad. The hotel also has free internet access. We would definitely stay there again, but be aware: the call to morning prayers starts at 5:30 - 6:00 am every morning, and you will hear it since the Blue Mosque is only about 100 meters away. This is only a small reminder that you are visiting a Muslim country.
stayed in istanbul for 5 days. thought the city was very beautiful. the hotel was in the best position for sightseeing. the cafes around the hotel were fine, if expensive for the type of food they served. the first meal we had was under one of the bridges and was delicious but a total ripoff. to be honest the owner was charming as he ripped us off! we ate at what we thought were modest cafes frequented by locals but they still seemed expensive, for the modest food available.
