2.8Well, had we been informed that the hotel was undergoing a major refurbishment and that during the day it was like a building site and even at night had the pungent smell of thinners, plus half the amenities such as lift (I have arthritis and was two stories down from the ground floor), and more superior restaurant were not available, we would have been at least forewarned. The hotel staff, who were excellent, said that they did contact anyone who had booked directly with them. Shame you didn't think to do so too.
The hotel contacted me afterwards and we had correspondance resulting in them offering us a two-night stay in a suite when the refurbishment is completed. That is fair and we will be taking them up on it. I didn't ask for this, just that they obviously value their customers. What a shame your service isn't quite so good.
I am assured that the rooms will all be bigger when they have finished. It's not the rooms that are the problem but the bathroom.
The breakfasts were excellent, but we ate in the restaurant where we had breakfast one evening, and it was very disappointing. There are normally two, one superior, and we'd hoped to sample that.
I won't recommend this hotel until the renovations are complete. Then, I'll see...
