We recently came back from our visit to Istanbul, Turkey, having spent four nights at the Ayasofya hotel. We spent the first night in the suite on the top floor but the air conditioning was not working so they moved us immediately to one of their apartments. We were pleased with the suite, save for the ac; however, the apartment room was spacious and nicely appointed. We had access to a private balcony with a wonderul unobstructed view overlooking the Sea of Marmara. The staff was accomodating and pleasant; the hotel was clean; the location was pefect: there were several restaurants within a few minutes walk, including the well-known Doy-doy, and we were located just a very short walk from the Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sophia. For the price, accomodations, staff, service, and location we were very pleased. We enjoyed our stay in this small private hotel and expect to return next year.
First of all..I must say that this Hotel is by far one of the worst hotels we've stayed in all europe. We are a young couple that travel around europe quite often and we dont ask much from a hotel. Only 2 things. 1. its quiet and 2. clean. This hotel had the clean part ok. but...If we the noise! its incredibly noisy! The first night we stayed at the bottom room...we slept probably 2 hours...we could hear everything. For example...the night reception person was on the computer..we could hear his typing on the key boards! we could here his clicking on the internet! we could here the people in the next room go to the bathroom! and it got worst..suddenly..around 2 pm.. this huge noise started...and it was a banging for every half hour.. apparently it was something to do with the furnace. Oh..and the bed! horrible.. it made this loud noise every single time i turned around.. and i could here the bed in the next room squeak soo loud! the next morning we complained and they moved us to the 2nd floor.. again. that night... same thing.. the noise the bed everything!!!!! we always travel on a budget and we where seriously considering going to look for another hotel even if it meant loosing our money. The last night they put us on the suite.. which again.. it was nice but.. honestly... it was so not worth the 3 days of no sleep. The suite was a bit quieter but the bed was still squeaking so loud that i woke up my husband even if i wen to the bathroom.... so... please... dont go here if you are thinking of having a good night sleep!!! i would never ever stay here.. I'm problably better off in a hostel....
