4.1We stayed in Lush Hip Hotel from 24/4/08 until 30/4/08. It is a small boutique hotel located less than five minutes from Taksim Square in the hip area of Beyoglu. I must say that location played a key role in our decision. If you're a young person who likes to explore the restaurant and bar scene, listen to my advice and DO NOT stay in Sultanahmet. It's tourist galore. Beyoglu is busy and bustling, but it's where you want to be after you've seen the major sites. Cafes, restaurants, bars, taverns, shopping, it's all there. The hotel is a refurbished old appartment building and it's furnished and decorated with minimal elegance and true style; a relaxed and effortless kind of luxury. There is a small gym and a spa. (I enjoyed a wonderful massage there) Every room is unique in its decoration. Ours was a very spacious one, with nice wooden floors, a fluffy carpet, minimal furniture but very tasteful. There was a small plasma TV with the typical cable choices. The room was cleaned everyday, towels changed, bathrobes and slippers provided, and generally anything you'd expect from a good hotel. The bathroom was smallish but with a roomy (and strong) shower, nice wooden counter, clean, very pleasant. The staff was nice and helpful - not really friendly or obliging though. We had to pay for our airport rides. Our driver did not speak ANY english and he drove us to the international terminal despite our warning that we were going to the domestic one! Not a big deal but you’d expect the hotel staff would have briefed him. Also, something that really bothered me was that a reception guy forgot to make a restaurant reservation for me and they lied about it, said they couldn’t find a table. I called myself and of course found one! The breakfast was a let down. Stale coffee, a little cheese, a little bread. Only had it once, although it was included in the price. All in all a nice and comfortable hotel, but not a cheap option!
