Allstar Grand Onder - Kusadasi, Turkey 

In nearly every respect, the hotel was good. The food was good (not great), the service was excellent, and our room was clean and pleasant with a great view of the marina and harbor. However, the Grand Onder has a parrot in a cage in the lobby, and the bird is living in deplorable conditions. Its cage was filthy, the bird had very little food, and the food that it did have was of poor quality. We tried to talk to the manager of the hotel several times, and the manager was never available (or never willing) to speak with us about the bird’s condition. We left a hotel rating form at the registration desk with a detailed complaint about the bird’s condition, and we followed up with an e-mail, but we did not receive a response to our form or our e-mail from the hotel’s management. What's particularly irritating about this treatment is that the hotel's logo features a happy bird. It's certainly not modeled on the bird in the lobby! The bird was living in such terrible conditions that, by the time we checked out of the hotel, we were both very distressed and depressed. We are left with a very poor impression of the Grand Onder despite its other good features.
