Park Hotel Edirne - Edirne, Turkey 

Words like faded, hasbeen come to mind after staying at this hotel. Most of the staff don't speak English, they speak German which is nice for the German travellers. As I've found throughout Turkey, what a hotel lacks in service or facilities, they make a serious attempt to make up for with helpful assistance. Its a vast sized hotel with very large spaces all over including a lounge area which, apart from chairs & coffee tables, seems bare. The room, where to start, it was spacious but drab. The bathroom was in need of repair but it was also roomy. This hotel basically need refurbishment but we stayed only one night so it was ok. The bed was clean & comfortable. We had to shut the window otherwise the call to prayer would wake us. The hotel smells of cigarette smoke or stale smoke. The good points about The Park Hotel is their breakfast. A lovely buffet is served in a nice setting overlooking a courtyard. Also, they have a large car part where your vehicle is locked up & the attendant washed our very dirty car. Edirne is an interesting town to visit because of the beautiful Sinan's Mosque which most tourists fail to see. Its worth a visit. & you can drive from Istanbul in about 3 hrs.
