We have stayed in this hotel for 2 nights recently. Our room was a city view room facing a car park. So from a view perspective, there is nothing that we can wow about!!! The decor of the hotel is very neutral just another 5 star hotel standard!!! Nothing special!!! The room does have a LCD TV and a bottle of complementary water. We do not remember that they have turn down bed service!!! However the bed is very comfortable!!! We sleep like a log everynight!!!
The hotel location is fantastic. It is really within walking distance of Train and Underground station, The best thing is that: Trains leaving the airport S1 / S8 stops at this station direct (Central Station)!!!! Outside the hotel, there is a tram stop. A lot of sightseeing tours also starts here. Near the hotel, there are a few great dept stores, food places and other individual shops.
Service in this hotel is really very very variable. Check in / Check out staff are great!!! Friendly and efficient!!! When comes to Conceirge, I definitely have second thoughts whether we are staying in a 5 star hotel!!! He has no manners. Did he greet me when approaching ? No. As this was the 1st time I was in Munich, I was wondering whether there is an area nearby where I can do some shopping. Instead of grabbing a map out and show me where the hotel is and where I should be heading, all he says was go straight and it should takes 7 mins. when you see mcdonalds, that is the right area!!! He then proceed to go back to his mobile phone and start talking again !!! He really makes me feel as it I am working for him and not the other way round!!!! Now when comes to the Bell staff, this is also very variable!!! The one that we have in the morning is impatient and careless. He decided to just grab my bags and my friends' bags (without letting my friends know), and proceed to give all the tags to me. He did not even realise he has dropped one of the tags. After a few more hours of sightseeing, when we returned to pick up our bags, the bell staff was extremely friendly, efficient and nice!!! He even waves us goodbye from a distance!!!!
As our rate does not include breakfast, we did not go down to the hotel for this. Indeed, we are really pleased to discover nearby, there is a place that do superb brunch with live piano music. The place is at number 51 , with the road name starts with a letter G on the side of Le Meriden!!!

Having read on Trip Adviser how highly some reviewed this hotel and is rated highly amongst in Munich hotels, I booked it though Meridien/Starwood's website for a 3 night stay in July while we were attending a performance at the opera.
Through the website I had asked for a room in a quiet location, yes I know this is the middle of a city, but it still should be possible. The rate quoted was quite high of 219 euros per night for a twin room, but since the hotel was so highly reccommended.... .We arrived and we had been allocated a 'City' view room. I asked if we could have a 'garden view' room and was told this cost 25 euros per night extra. I complained but got nowhere with the rather loud, stiff faced blond lady that was dealing with my booking.
We checked out the city view room, quite large and reasonably well appointed, BUT taxi and cars horns could be heard just outside your window even with the double glazed windows closed and a view of the kebab shop and office/accomodation block on the corner of the next street! Remeber this is a 'city' view room!
Back to reception to try and get a better room without having to pay an extra 25 euros per night. The receptionist was having none of it and loudly proclaimed that we would have to pay the extra to get the garden view room. I wanted to walk out and find another hotel, but my partner suggested we pay the extra. We did and were allocated exactly the same size room with all the same appointments of the 'city' view room, except it was peace and quiet overlooking the central garden, but also overlooking a set of offices right opposite. Please rememebr this when you open your curtains in the morning or decide to do anything with the lights with the curtains open!
So for the grand sum of 244 euros per night we had peace and quiet. Of course the hotel lost out financially because we decided NOT to eat or drink at the hotel, apart from the included breakfast.
I wrote an email of complaint to the hotoel and their view was I got what I paid for. The reservations manager called the 'city' view room 'lively city view'
I told her that I had to laugh at your term 'lively' to expalin their city viw rooms. Noisy I think would be more appropriate. Customers would then understand to stay at your hotel and expect to be able to sleep at night without earplugs you MUST book a garden view or QUIET room.
So you pays your money and your takes your choice! So peace and quiet costs 25 euros per night more at this hotel. You have been warned!
