Rachamankha details:  The town of Chiang Mai- known as the Rose of the North- is the setting for a gem of Asian hospitality. Designed by Mr. Ong-ard Satrabhundu and Mr. Rooj Changtrakul - two of Thailands top architects and designers - the Rachamankhas architecture takes inspiration from Wat Phratat Lampang Luang- north Thailands finest extant Lanna period temple. The hotel guestrooms border two beautiful inner courtyards- guarded by Ming Dynasty lions and planted with beautiful and aromatic plumeria trees and decorative betel nut palms. The centrepiece between the two guestroom courtyards is the Lobby- an elegant 400-year-old timber structure- a masterpiece of the Lanna period- a wonderful private space for guests. Privacy- serenity and a sense of place are the keynotes of Rachamankha- a home away from home within the Lanna kingdom- perfectly placed to explore north Thailands rich culture and heritage.

CLUB 5C- Hotel welcomes Relais and Chateaux Club 5C members with a VIP Welcome and a Discovery Privilege. Please include the Club 5C membership number in the reservation and please show your Club 5C membership card on arrival.

If the feel of the resort is Thai, the rooms are very much Chinese in character. Authentic Chinese antiques are fused with contemporary minimalism to give the rooms a peaceful air. Bathrooms are tastefully decorated but only some rooms have a bathtub.

Situated in the heart of historic Chiang Mai old city founded in 1296 the 25-room and suite Rachamankha is next to Wat Phra Singh justifiably the citys most famous temple *cir 1345* Four temples of notable interest are within easy walking distance from the hotel out of thirty-three functioning wats or temples in the walled city of old Chiang Mai.

The modern contemporary restaurant offers a choice of Thai and Western cuisine.

Clealy it's a labour of love, designed by a Thai architect and interior designer who live in a house within the hotel grounds. We met them at a bizarre and lovely garden party they hosted with a string quartet, flowing champagne, and assorted glamorous Thais flitting about the place. They built the hotel...... The entry is through a fenced courtyard off of a side street, where there is ample parking. The rooms are off of interior courtyards, with a sitting area in the middle. The rooms are quite spacious, as is the bathroom. The hotel offers a lovely swimming pool, a library, and internet access. The breakfast...... Read entire review
