Just returned from a 3 night stay at Lebua in a one bedroom suite.
We booked with the hotel website on a package which includes transfer & drinks at skybar. Def worth checking out as they have lots of packages.
After 16 hours of travelling we arrived at Bangkok airport and were met by a firendly guy and a sparkling 7 series BMW for our transfer...great first impression!
Then arrived at the hotel for in-room check in on our 56th floor suite..which was excellent in every way.
Rooms - very spacious with v compfortable beds (amazing how many hotels dont get this right!) ammenities also good with Bulgari toiletries (seperate bath & rain shower).
Bars/Food - we ate at Breeze on the 52nd floor - a very special restaurant that compares favourably with the best in London/New York...unfortunately this also includes the price ..around $250 (?125) for a 3 course meal with wine. The views are spectcular.
Also the skybar on the top floor is great with cocktails around $8 (?4) which again is cheaper than most major cities but expensive for Bangkok.
Buffet breakfast is included and is very good indeed...and served til 11.30 so no need to get up!
Spa/Pool - had a great Thai massage with a very good therapist for around $30 (?15), 60 mins of stretching bliss!
Lastly, I cannot praise the staff enough, including Mr Ohri (the G.Manager) they are trying to create a special place to stay in Bangkok and they are doing brilliantly,
If you have any specific questions about Bangkok more than happy to help!
I have never stayed in a 5 star hotel before and I can now say, I wish I had the money to stay in them all the time, granted they all are as nice as Lebua.
My mother and I travelled to Bangkok, Thailand for vacation and were a little apprehensive. Neither of us had been on vacation overseas before. The staff at Lebua were EXTREMELY nice and helpful. They made sure we knew where we were going and what to watch out for. They insisted on writing down the directions for cabbies in Thai so that we wouldn't get lost and always offered to call us taxis (we usually just hailed one ourselves). Always greeted with a huge smile and a wai, we felt welcomed and valued.
I was lucky enough to be at Lebua for my birthday and was extremely surprised when room service brought me a slice of the most exquisite chocolate mousse cake. It was more than a cake though, it was a piece of art. It looked like a wrapped present, with lotus petals strewn on the plate, candles with a little package of matches and a note signed by the hotel manager. All this because my mother wanted to embarass me by telling everyone she saw that day that it was my birthday.
The room itself was outrageoulsy clean and spacious and the balcony overlooked the city and river. Air-con worked perfect (thank God!) and the mini-bar was always stocked. Tub in the bathroom was designed for soaking and the living room area was quiet and comfortable.
I can't say enough about this fantastic hotel. If I ever go back to Bangkok, I will be booking at Lebua.
Lebua: Nice Rooms But The Policies are overwhelming Posted: Thu, Jul 24 2008

The best part of Lebua are the rooms and views. Beyond that the hotel has liittle to offer for people on vacation. Our stay, to say the least, was not enjoyable due to several issues we faced at the hotel. To start with, the checkin process was a hassle, finally we had to summon the manager to resolve. Second, Lebua is like a high end apartment building then a 5-star luxury hotel. The hotel has set up several policies that do not cater to guests, rather to non-guests that frequent the roof-top bars and restaurant.s Guest privacy is non existent! The hotel lobby is small and underwhelming, with no travel services and other amenities you find in a luxury hotel.
Bottom line, the hotel is probably ok for business travel but I do NOT recommend this hotel for people on vacation or travelling as a family.
Great hotel... Great room... Great service...
I just didn't know where we were... Since I usually stay at the Peninsula, it was hard to get my bearings. We walked around the neighborhood a bit, something you can't really do at the Peninsula being on the other side of the river, but didn't find anything of interest.
The bar and restaurant on the higher floors seemed to be quite popular. However the dress code wasn't very friendly for those of us that were headed to the beach (and didn't have anything but beachwear). Those of us with "not-so-smart" casual attire were relegated to walking a few blocks down the street to the Holiday Inn and imbibing at their lobby bar, Jameson's.
Overall, the rooms are great and with the bar/lounge and restaurant being such attractions, I'd consider staying here again.
The only thing you've got to realize when you stay at places toward the river is that you're not really close to where the action is... for that, you should stay somewhere along Sukhumvit.
