After reading some of the reviews from 2006 I think they may have updated the hotel a bit because I didn't think it was that terrible nor did I find a single cockroach in my room. Our room was smaller than expected, as with most hotels, but it was clean and the towels were in good shape. The bed was the most comfortable bed we had on our tour of Thailand, especially the pillows. We had a large window with a good view of the rest of Bangkok. We ordered room service one night and the food was pretty nasty but the guy who brought it to us was very nice! Overall I would say that the hotel is not bad and the location is good.

Don't Stay in this Hotel "unico Leela"

Hotel unico leela in Sukhumvit, bangkok. I am thai who visit Bangkok for 1 night. I booked this hotel from internet booking, the photo that they show in their website is totally different from the reality!!! This hotel has been renovate recently but the fact is they only renovate the hotel reception, NOT the guest room!!! The room is so old with small unclear window, it's look like old hostel in khoasarn road which will cost you 80%less than Unico leela. So please don't ever believe what you see in their website, it's all bull [--]. Believe me don't stay there.

In preparation for a recent business trip to Bangkok, I reserved an Executive Deluxe room at this hotel which was confirmed by a reputable online agency. I had brought my honey along hoping to combine some pleasure with business. Once the receptionist saw we were a same-sex couple all Deluxe Executive rooms somehow became 'fully booked' and my Executive Deluxe room turned out to be a tiny windowless arm pit with a postage-stamp sized TV. I protested and they showed me two equally unacceptable holes in varyious stages of disrepair. For example, maintenance was still glueing a night stand together and staining it when I was shown their second offering. I don't know about you but the thought of paying for and sleeping in a windowless "Deluxe" room or one with uncured paint fumes has little appeal. Fortunately I was able to contact the online booking agency by phone and they helped make acceptable last minute arrangements elsewhere without charging me a 35% cancellation fee. I would not wish this kind of treatment on anyone (with the possible exception of a certain US Senator known to have a remarkably "wide stance").
