Nice hotel

We booked this hotel following a recommendation from a friend who had stayed there previously, and had a pleasant 5 night stay there. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, and made us feel welcome from the moment we stepped through the door. We were upgraded from a junior suite to a superior suite as all junior suites were occupied when we arrived. The room was more like an apartment - we had 5 rooms and acres of space. The 42" plasma screen tv was great! Breakfast and food in general in the hotel was very good. The pool is fabulous, and comes complete with music piped underwater, which was quite a bizarre experience! The only gripe I have is that this is more of a long stay hotel. This itself is not a problem, but the long stay guests very much get preference over the short stay ones. We had two nights of sleeplessness due to noisy guests both above and below us. We complained to the staff but we told that because the noise-makers were long stay guests there was nothing they could or would do about it. This really took the edge off what was an otherwise pleasant stay.

Location is a bit out of the way from Sukhumvit, but that is kind of a good thing as you are away from the noise. Had the solitaire suite and it is huge - practically an apartment! Combination of Thai and Western styling. Huge TV - except the four poster bed is sort of in the way if you are on the left of the bed! Small kitchen so you make your own meals. Villa market down the road - handy for supplies. Room service quick and food (burger) OK - needed a break from Thai food. Didn't try the pool but looked good. Noisy in the evening as a few nightclubs in the area - Bed Supperclub nearby. Finishes around 2am though. Some staff are great, some a bit snooty (the door men were a bit obnoxious at times). Breakfast not that great (I like my bacon crispy/crunchy - not chewy). Got the suite for the same price as a normal hotel room (one of those last minute surprise deals). Go to the Thai and foot massage place down near sukhumvit - "Foot(something)". Great foot massage after a day of walking - 1 hr for 250baht (tip extra).

Only Passing through and stayed one night. Got great internet price in Executive Suite. Had room service which was lovely. All in all a nice hotel with spacious room, small kitchen area, lounge and great view over BKK. Staff friendly and helpful.

Good location in Bangkok

The President Solitaire is in a good location, 5 minutes walk from the action on Sukhumvit. The apartment-hotel is spacious and well equipped, but in need of some maintenance. Small details like taps loose, windows not closing properly, tv out of tune; but overall it's good value in a good location. The staff are great, lovely Thai's- aren't they all? - but the lift operator came in in for special mention; every time we entered of exited, there was a snappy salute complete with clicked heels!
