Not much to say about this hotel, it's a typical Marriott, comfortable and pricey. However, one thing to note is that this hotel is miles out of the way of the interesting areas of Bangkok and is remotely located on the 'wrong' side of the river. The hotel shuttle boat is fine but takes almost 30 minutes to reach the other side of the river at the BTS skytrain terminal, it also only runs until midnight, which in Bangkok is early. Also, as the hotel is so remote, taxi journeys can be lengthy and expensive unless you have insisted that the driver uses the taxi-meter. If I wanted to stay at a Marriott in BKK again I would definitely choose the more convenient JW Marriott in the Sukhumvit Road rather than this one.

Stayed with my husband at this hotel for 7 nights in July 2008. There are some things about this hotel which we really liked - the boat service to the more central area around Taksin was efficient and we had breakfast every morning in Numero Uno, the hotel's all-day cafe. The food there is very good and the staff efficient and helpful. We did not use the hotel's buffet breakfast so cannot comment on that. We also ate at the hotel on 2 evenings and had room service. Both were good. Our main problem was with our room. Although it was very nicely furnished and large we found that a lot of the guests had very young children who ran up and down outside our room and our neighbours allowed their young children to wear the mother's shoes to walk around on the wooden floor - which wasn't great at 7 am!! A lot of the guests were there on business and it seemed that they had brought their families with them. So it wasn't relaxing enough for us as I didn't really want to see a load of business people in suits and on mobile phones while I was trying to chill out and relax!! Not the hotel's fault - it's obviously good business for them. The staff were fine - but we wouldn't return here because of the above. There were many things we liked but the room issue outweighed any benefits the hotel had to offer. The pool is very nice and there are lots of loungers and good changing and showering facilities. We moved from here to The Oriental - see my separate review.
