The River location is a great escape from the city and the free boat to the SkyTrain is a lovely way to start and end a busy day. The staff are so helpful and friendly - the concierge even got us a taxi driver who knew how to get to the Harley Davidson dealer which is way off the tourist routes.

We upgraded twice on Starwood, to 8000 for the next level, and the another 500, for a total of 8500 for Junior Suite. We had a beautiful huge corner suite with a living room overlooking the river, they threw in the internet for both of us, AND the buffet breakfast. The room was spotless, the breakfast huge and delicious, and the hotel had a bar with a singer which made it fun to walk into. We checked out the Shangri-LA and the Penninsula and they were both way too quiet for us, but to your own taste. As far as location, the only bummer is that it is on the opposite side of the river of the Skytrain, and for that reason, if i was going to be there longer I may have picked Shangri-La, which is right off the train.

A taxi 10 mins into main shopping area or tuk tuk. We stayed in a Tower room on the way out which was lovely but not big enough for an extra bed which meant 3 of us in the huge bed and our 7 yr old on the little sofa. On the way back we'd booked a mid price room but the lovely receptionist upgraded us to a bigger room with two doubles and a single bed. Although the first room was smarter and we did enjoy the benefits of the Tower lounge the second room was more comfortable for a family. The Tower lounge was lovely for breakfast and afternoon tea but we weren't able to use it in the evening as the children weren't allowed in as alcohol was being served. So if staying with children I would say it would be better to spend the extra money on a bigger room and the fantastic buffet breakfast. One more adult themed and a family pool which was fantastic, warm with plenty of sunbeds, nice swim up bar, helpful pool boys, floats for the kids and even a couple of resident peacocks! Staff were nice and welcoming to the children.
Despite all the talk of bad traffic into town from the airport the journey(which we did 4 times) never took more than 30 minutes.
