Hotel Tabor - Maribor, Slovenia 

we have stayed in the hotel Tabor in June for 2 nights only. We were very disappointed as we have booked the room with air conditioning and internet access however were given something completely different. When we arrived we were greeted by a very polite girl however not very helpful ,we were given the keys to our room which was on the second floor. The room was very dingy,small,old looking and most of all no air conditioning or internet access,It was a very hot day and first day of Lent and after a long day travelling it was the last thing we needed. We came down to the reception and showed them email confirmation that we have booked a room with air con. the lady said that there were some problems on their web site therefore the price of the room with air conditioning was actually higher then advertised. That was a surprise,anyhow we said that we will pay as long a the air conditioning is there,we finally get to the top floor (the renovated part) the room smelled of fresh paint and air condition was not working even after waiting for over 20 minutes. Another visit to the reception-the girl just looked at us and said there is nothing she can do,then a man appeared who said that air con must be working and asked if they can try it while we are out. We agreed to that saying that we will also check if there are any other hotels available as the hotel is not too our liking. We came back unfortunately with the bad news ,all the best hotels were full due to Lent. Anyhow air condition in the room was fixed,we were later told that its timed . Furthermore the room had no soap/shampoo...luckily centre of Maribor is not far and we went to get some shampoo and soap. the next day we got up for breakfast,we looked at it and left . The hotel should be graded as a hostel. We have been staying in a lot of different Hotels in Slovenia over the years and we visit at least 3 times per year. We previously stayed in Hotel Piramida and Hotel Orel in Maribor, they can not be compared. as their service as well a the rooms are impeccable. We were very disappointed and we will not be going back. It really is a Hostel value.
