Hotel Jelovica - Bled, Slovenia 

We have just returned from a great week in Bled, the hotel was good, very clean and the staff were fantastic, they could not do enough for us. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel, there were posher ones but the price reflected this. We met many other guests with whom we had some good crack, the entertainment whilst dinner was served was varied and enjoyable especially the slovanian dancers. The lake is about a minute away. There were good choices at both breakfast and dinner. Hot water was plentiful, the staff put flowers in our room for our pearl wedding anniversary, a nice touch. Would stay there again

Beds were very comfortable, perhaps new? Small room but efficient with closet & shelves, hanging hooks, & small safe (which we could not operate and front desk couldn't either). Room was warm but resolved with opening the door & window to small balcony. We faced away from lake and at first were miffed but then realized we had a great view of town life. Watched townsfolk coming & going to nearby bus station, men pruning their fruit trees, women preparing their gardens, kids walking from school.....this all turned into a wonderful window on regular life in a resort town. Bath was updated with small marble euro-style sink and shelf for toiletries. Heated towelrack was great for drying hand-washed items. Shower was quarter-round style and small but with good water pressure and nice toiletries. Lots of hot water. Everything was spotless in the room. Carpet good. Public areas just ok, and the bar really is whimsical, no schedule whatsoever. Good thing, beers were way expensive, just go around the corner for a beer or wine. Had one dinner and it was waves of food - started with a very good mushroom soup, followed by stuffed alfredo pasta, a very fresh salad, then mixed meat dish & potatoes & spinach.....fresh fruit and ice cream for dessert. Breakfasts were plentiful and we were wowed until we had even fresher ones elsewhere. We loved the heated coffee cups and chocolate-spread pastries. Eggs were strange but the fresh meats and cheese were great especially if you made them panini style on the press. Blueberry juice! Fresh fruit and cereals and yogurt. One morning they served the local specialty cremna rezsa pastry, do try it. We agree, staff was aloof, but we didn't require much of them. We would stay here again unless we won a lottery and price was of no matter.
