Having stayed at the Meritus' group of hotels flagship Meritus Mandarin on Orchard Road for the past many years. I made the decision to try the Marina Mandarin a few months ago and I must say that the hotel and the Marina area can be a great alternative to Orchard Road.
From arrival to check-in, staff were excellent, hallmarks of Meritus! The lobby was awesome, especially in the mornings when you get to hear birds chirping and at night as it is illuminated.
I won't deny that the rooms aren't 100% sound-proofed so you do hear the pianist playing late into the night. It didn't really bother in fact the soft tunes might have helped me sleep better.
Meals at Aquamarine is superb. The buffet was extremely elaborate, fresh and offered great value for money. Once again, the staff there didn't disappoint.
Location wise, it is some 15 minutes on foot to the subway but you don't get bored along the way as the hotel is connected via an underground shopping mall!
The ambience was good. We had a good city, as well as marina bay view. The staff are corteous. The room was clean. The environmental services comes twice a day to check if you need to clean up your room, organized way of getting a public transportation.
One thing I would recommend is to include a free breakfast as a complimentary for taking their country's airline (in my case Singapore air)- this was offered by other website.
