Beware of the bell service

Stayed at the Bayview after trouble with the hotel that we were originally booked in. The hotel reception was welcoming and rooms were clean. The bell service for the hotel was very insisting on having a tip when he assisted us with our luggage from the lift to the room. I was always under the impression that it was discretionary in Singapore particularly in light of the service charge that everyone has to pay irrespective of the service you receive. Breakfast was rather poor with the emphasis of waiting staff on collecting your breakfast voucher rather then waiting on you. Upon our check out the bell service assisted us in getting our luggage from the reception into the taxi. And again the employee was insistent that he had a tip for his limited service. This practice of paying a 10% service charge always troubles me when poor service is given. To add insult to injury it irritates and repels me when members of staff demand to be tipped. It maybe time for the hotel management to look at the practices of certain individuals.

My friend and I had come to the end of our 5 week travelling experience through Asia so were much relieved when we came to the hotel (that had been previously booked) it was clean, comfortable and in a perfect location to explore the city. The staff were courteous and adapted themselves to our every need. The room was always spotlesly clean, however my only complaint would be that the toilet sometimes smelt after stalinisation - but I guess that is inevitable. The shower was huuuuuuuge, and the most powerful I have experienced in a while - maybe because I was putting up with cold hoses as showers!! I would really recommend this hotel to anyone, specifically for location and the fact that breakfast is included - which is always an added bonus!!

We are a family of 4 who stayed here on stop over to Australia. We were very pleased with the linked family rooms - almost like having our own suite. The hotel was very clean, and quiet. We had a great stay and would recommend it.

This hotel had a good location but was not very clean. The rooms were sparse and the bed uncomfortable. The fridge smelled so bad after opening it I couldn't clear the smell from the room for a good couple of hours. The staff were friendly and helpful which is the only thing that saved me from making a major complaint. If I were you I'd find somewhere else to stay. Not good!

Booked this hotel on the internet. It is not easy to find hotel rooms in Singapore especially when there are trade fairs or conferences in the city. Chose this hotel because no other rooms were available elsewhere. Fact #1: Hotels in Singapore aren't that cheap Fact#2: This hotel is one of the cheaper ones, so you can't expect much If you want something cheaper than this, it will be likely those that are often used for "bed activities" If I am travelling on business, I will definitely stay at a better place, but I will not hesitate even for a second to stay here if I have to pay on my own. Close proximity to cheap food. Need a bit of a walk to subway. But can manage. Not that easy to get taxis.
