Pedras D'el Rei - Tavira, Portugal 

We booked a stay at Pedras a week before we went; we hadn't heard of it before, it was just a last minute decision booked via a website. We then saw the other reviews here, most of which are terrible, and so were very anxious as to what we would find when we arrived. We were very very pleasantly suprised; our room, a one-bed appartment was on two floors, and the bathroom was very much up to hotel standard, modern and clean. The bedroom was clean, and our bed (2 twins pushed together) was comfortable. We had a balcony big enough to sunbathe on if we wanted to. Downstairs was a large space, with dining table, a living area with sofa and coffee table and a small kitchette which was well-equiped. Lovely terrace area out back. It was quiet, clean, and the staff were friendly, relaxed and helpful. We have two young kids (who we left at home with the grandparents!) and would bring them there another time, but it was also great for us just to spend some time alone so suits families and couples. Would recommend - not the best place I have ever stayed but far from the worse and miles better than expected.
