Remont - Oxford, United Kingdom     

On the face of things the Remont seems modern and trendy sadly I found the ambiance, like the decor plain and cold I stay at many hotels on my travels and having paid 4 star hotel rate (I know its Oxford); for a very average (allegedly executive)room in the attic was left feeling disappointed The decor on closer inspection, was showing signs of wear and tear and the layout of the room was much wanting. Silly things like not being able to see the tv from the sofa and having air con that impeded decent access to the wardrobe; curtains that did not block out the light and bedside lamps that could give you a suntan,all added to the discontent. The bathroom however was the most disappointing feature If you are above 5ft 5 do check you have not got an attic room I found I could not stand up fully in the shower ,due to the eves location and a bath was impossible due to its mini size. I was also less than happy ,that towels I had asked to be replaced were hung back up Although most of the fittings were of very high quality ,I would have much preferred a better use of space and easier access to the room ,which is very diffficult if you have luggage The staff all seem young and varied in their friendliness and the list of house rules adds to feeling you are imposing. I chose to check out early and go into Oxford in the rain, rather than ask if I might use the lounge area, for an extra hour after check out On a plus side, the morning breakfasts are worth having, with varied choice and great scrambled eggs. The dining area does feel a bit like a cafeteria though On the whole, there wasn't a great deal exactly wrong with the Remont; but the ambience is lacking ,as is any welcome. I do feel it puts hotel prices on B&B service Will I stay again, most unlikely how disappointing.

This B&B off main road in North Oxford is perfectly decent. Good location for the city. But it lacks any character - probably due to the Ikea fit furniture. Rooms were clean, but not large. Breakfast was very nice and staff attentive. We picked this because it ranked so well on tripadvisor. If you want a good base for the city, it's probably sufficient. If you want anything more, look elsewhere.
