We paid extra for a "renovated" room (88 EURO a night), however, the air-conditioning temperature could not be changed in the room. It was too hot and we couldn't sleep. It was 40 degrees in madrid in June!
When speaking to reception about this, the men on the desk were extremely rude and un-sympathetic about it, and simply said that the whole hotel was fixed at this temperature.
Aside from the air-conditioning and the appalling service at this hotel, I would recommend it for a good location and clean rooms. I guess, it depends what is important to you...

The hotel is in an excellent location for great restaurants and bars as is situated directly behind Plaza Santa Ana. We had a room at the front of the hotel which meant I hardly slept for two nights as it's really noisy (bar across the road). Unfortunately the road was being resurfaced which meant it was noisy first thing too. The rate I got was very good E73/night. Would recommend a great place for a cheap stay in Madrid but there are some much nicer hotels nearby so may be worth paying a little extra. The breakfast was pretty rubbish and isn't inclusive so would recommend eating out in the morning.
