I stay three (3) nights at the Amazonia Lisboa Hotel in March of 2008. I paid 40 Euro nightly. The staff is friendly and helpful. The accommodations are basic but clean and comfortable. The hotel is located in a quite neighborhood that is close to bus lines and the metro. The hotel is easily reached from the airport by taking bus number 83 and exiting the bus at the stop just past the Ritz (Four Seasons). I would stay once more.
Arrived on Oct 4 for five nights. THis property is very popular with the larger tour groups so check-in can sometimes take awhile. Was assigned a room on the top (8th) floor with a decent view. Rooms were basic but everything is there. Large enough bathroon, wardrobe, fridge, safe (must pay E15 deposit to use). Small TV is attached to the wall with several English language channels. Breakfast is mayhem with hords pushing around and a table sometimes hard to find. Better to go down first thing in the morning before the rush. Free Financial Times newspapaer at front desk. Hotel is walking distance to Amorieras shopping mall which has supermarket, food court, etc., and about a 5 min walk to Rato metro station. You can walk further on to Marques de Pombo metro station (additional 5 min) for more convenience as its on the Blue Line to Baixa and Barrio Alto.
Taxi to/from airport is about E5. what I likes most about the hotel is that its located in a quiet, primarily residential, neighborhood. There are hole-in-the-wall cafes around and a decent pizza restaurant down the street.
Nice hotel. Good breakfast, clean room, friendly staff, reception 24, free luggage-room for travellers. Pool is open air and situable only in hot weather. There is good "airplane wiev" at nights, because hotel located near of airplanes rutes near of Lisboa airport. But it is not noisy.
