Stayed one night in July. I thought it was very good value and my wife thought the decor and furnishing was lovely. Our room was actually quite small, but clever design and lots of mirrors made it seem fine. The main restaurant (Ad Lib) was closed for refurbishment but we would probably have eaten out anyway. I had a hire car to garage which was an extra Euro 24 - don't try to park it in the small underground car park yourself, leave that to the concierge.

Needed a break, usually stay at Hiltons (habit not addiction!) but wanted some culture, sun and decent food. Chose Sofitel Lisbon based on Tripadvisor community- many thanks, great choice! Hotel is well located, very professional but still with a huge degree of warmth and genuine friendliness, and the rooms and facilities were excellent. Very much a walking city except- dont try to walk to Belem- its next to motorways, but worth going to; go to ferry/train terminal on coast and get nice price train. Modern art museum is a must (even for heathens like me!) and the castle (back in the city), while a little disappointing is still worth the effort for the views! Dont queue for elevator, unless you are into old technology, walk up the route and savour the atmosphere, go to museum, and walk back down! Food wise, very touristy, but at the back of Hard Rock cafe on main drag, and to the right, loads of compatative and value eateries. Some good, some bad! Eddy park- no disrespect but dont pay a cab to go there, and dont waste a day walking there and back; the Sofitel picnic pack is heavy, so dont plan a long walk without airsupport! It is great, the city is great, but plan!!
