Hotel Aviz - Lisbon, Portugal     

Hotel Aviz is a perfectly OK hotel, if a little noisy at times. There were also one or two oddities like no service directory in the room. However, it is a pleasant enough place in a good location near to Marques de Pombal metro. A good 3 star hotel, but not sure where that extra star came from.

The hotel was outstanding and well worth the 130 euros/nite with breakfast. The bed was huge and not the typical small euro bed. The room was huge, clean, fancy bath, - we also received champagne and strawberries for our anniversary. I didn't think it was loud at all. I have determined that loudness typically just comes down to who your neighbors happen to be that night. The hotel was pretty walkable to the barrio alto. Also it is right on the metro line which is very easy to get around, once you get by the kiosk thing to buy your tix. I think it is important to note the price of a hotel when writing these reviews. In this vein, great hotel, great value. For dinner, I would strongly reccommend Os Tibetanos (Rua do Salitre 117, Lisbon, Portugal) Excellent Food, very friendly wait staff. We were a little unsure of this place when we walked in, but the fixed menu that night was some of the best veggie food I have every had. I had a squash soup, then seitan steak, with red beet puree and cabbage. Desert choices included papaya torte or ice cream. And it included one drink and a coffee/tea. All for 12 euros each. I can't say enough about this place and I would go back to lisbon just to eat at this place.
